Simplify 101 • one person will receive a spot in the online workshop Organize Your Paper Clutter with Aby Garvey
Paper, paper everywhere! That paper mountain growing on your countertop
represents a loss of freedom, a loss of control, and a nagging feeling
in your gut that something important isn’t getting attended to. Your
paper, and the feelings it creates, makes it hard to relax, focus or
even have fun.
Here’s
the good news: there is a better way! With the right paper organizing
systems in place—those created with you, your paper, and your home in
mind—you can free yourself from paper clutter and the stress that comes
along with it. In Organize Your Paper Clutter, you’ll learn a
step-by-step process on how to decide if you need a piece of paper (and
for how long!) and how to organize it so you’ll find it again right
when you need it! Your piles (and your stress!) will be replaced by
organizing systems you love, and feelings of confidence, relief and
peace of mind!
Start date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
End date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Registration status: open!
Read more specific details for the workshop here.

Two great books that I read recently were, "Beautiful Boy" by David Sheff and "Ice Bound" by Dr. Jerri Nielsen. I have a 10-month old now, but when he was only a few months old and I was nursing all the time, these were quick, easy reads that I could get through with only little chunks of time. Hope you are finding time to read and take care of yourself too!
Thank you!
Lori

A recent favorite is The 100 Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this one yet. The authors focused on eating locally produced foods for one year. I really want to try to visit our local markets more and eat healthier! :)
p.s. fantastic giveaway Ali! Maybe this time I'll be lucky!

Twilight - New Moon - Eclipse - Breaking Dawn! I have to say, these books allow me to escape my normal everyday mom duties. They are easy and quick to read too! I have enough pressures with everyday life, so escaping into a little "dream" world is nice!

Hi Ali! You can't go wrong with anything by Barbara Kingsolver or Isabel Allende, but I especially love Prodigal Summer (Kingsolver) and Ines of My Soul (Allende). Also, for non-fiction, BabyCatcher: Stories of a Modern Midwife is a great (though sad at times) look into today's birthing practices. And for the kiddos, we are loving The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf right now - me for the beautiful pen-and-ink drawings and peaceful message, and my son because it's about a cow ;)

My favorite recent read was this one:

Momma Zen. It's an easy read and is full of inspirational (but not religious) moments where I said "ah-ha...".
I highly recommend it to all moms!

I just finished and was incredibly inspired by "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. I plan to give these as presents to some people. It's about following your childhood dreams and was a fast, easy read. It has stuck with me, too, and I keep thinking about the various messages of how to live, even when you're dying.
