Simplify 101 • one person will receive a spot in the online workshop Organize Your Paper Clutter with Aby Garvey
Paper, paper everywhere! That paper mountain growing on your countertop
represents a loss of freedom, a loss of control, and a nagging feeling
in your gut that something important isn’t getting attended to. Your
paper, and the feelings it creates, makes it hard to relax, focus or
even have fun.
Here’s
the good news: there is a better way! With the right paper organizing
systems in place—those created with you, your paper, and your home in
mind—you can free yourself from paper clutter and the stress that comes
along with it. In Organize Your Paper Clutter, you’ll learn a
step-by-step process on how to decide if you need a piece of paper (and
for how long!) and how to organize it so you’ll find it again right
when you need it! Your piles (and your stress!) will be replaced by
organizing systems you love, and feelings of confidence, relief and
peace of mind!
Start date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
End date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Registration status: open!
Read more specific details for the workshop here.

I just finished reading 'Chronicle of a Death Foretold' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. A quick read, but an interesting investigation of our individual and collective responsibility. Love his style.

My favorite kid's book is "Oh, What a Busy Day!" by Gyo Fujikawa. No longer in print and anytime it's on Ebay it's crazy expensive.
My favorite "adult" book is Pride and Prejudice. I fell in love with Mr. Darcy, even before he was played by the delicious Colin Firth.

Hi Ali - my favorite book, although not an "artsy" book is "The Prince of Tides", which the movie of the same name was based on. I just find that it releases so much of my inner personality, and I identify with it so much, that it frees me up to be the person that I really am. Gotta love a book like that!

The book that I have bought copies for other people to read is by Greg Mortenson, called "Three Cups of Tea". If you want to know the solution to the Afghanistan/Pakistan wars, read this book. So inspiring, you would not believe it is a non-fiction book. A real page turner. Plus an incredible message about how one person can make a huge difference in the lives of other people and start a movement!

I love the chance to win a giveaway. Thank you. I'm expanding my creative side and therefore the book I'm reading is: Scott Kelby's 7 point system for Photoshop :) I've always been a left-brainer and now I'm embracing my right side :) !

Wow...a favorite book....one that I adore is Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons...a lovely spring read that doesn't take a whole lot of mental energy, but is still worth reading. The author is Lorna Landvik.

One of my most treasured books is a bead book I was given as a leaving present from my first job. I got into making jewellery whilst at that job, and my colleagues all chipped in to buy it for me. I still have it, but it's a long time since I opened the covers. Off to find it now!

Not sure this post went through before - latest re-read was Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Love the latin style and an interesting story about our individual and collective responsibilities to each other.
Great question,

I just finished reading: "Raising Your Spirited Child: A Guide for Parents Whose Child Is More Intense, Sensitive, Perceptive, Persistent, and Energetic" by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka. This book has helped me see the challenges that my son throws my way in a whole new light. Recommended for anyone who thinks they have a child who is "more" (see title above). Perhaps one day soon I'll get back to reading a good novel, but for now I am focusing my energy on being a better parent. :)

My all time favorite (like a lot of women) is Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. Every time I read it it feels brand new. I love the language and I love that its written by a woman.

My current favorite book is Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen. My school was just authorized as an IB school and we decided to read this book as part of our Health and Social Education Area of Interaction. It's a great book because Greg Mortensen talks about the struggles to bring quality education to the children of Afghanistan. It is very enlightening to see what they have to go through and how much we take our own educational system for granted.

My best two books of 2008 (I'm still working on 2009) were "The Time Traveler's Wife" and "The Book Thief". Still thinking and talking about them.

okay, I never win any of these things but I have to recommend the Girlfriends guide books. I read the expecting one, first year, but never did finish the toddler one. Now my babies are 3 so I guess we're surviving toddler-hood okay. Also for non-parenting/childcare I'd recommend any of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries. The heroine is always falling into odd situations and bumbles her way out of them. I can totally empathize with her:)
