Three Things: May Favorites

ThreeThings
Over the past week I put together ten layouts for my column & a feature article for the upcoming October issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. It's been awhile since I put that many layouts together in a short time period and it felt really, really good. My office is still recovering from the creative mess.

I used to be super fast at putting pages together. These days I find myself going slower and focusing more on what I really want to say with each page (this definitely gets a bit complicated especially when I find I have less time overall).

As I wrote up my supply lists and worked on the text for those layouts yesterday I noticed there were definitely a few things I am really into right now. Here's three of my favorites this month:

[1] Sassafras Blossomed Vintage Yummy : Sassafras has come out with some great patterns and I happen to like them even more because they add a great little patterned strip along the bottom. I feel like I am getting a little something extra with each sheet.

[2] Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher : This is one of those products that at first I thought, "why in the heck do I need a special stapler?" I have a great regular stapler that works just fine. After testing this one out I have to say that this is probably one of my favorite tools I have come across in awhile. The size of these staples is perfect for layouts and smaller projects. They are just right for attaching ribbon and other thinner embellishments. It fits really nice in my hand. I think I used this on more than half the layouts I created this past week. Highly recommended.

[3] Jenni Bowlin Front Porch Die Cut Label Paper : It's probably not a secret that I'm a fan of Jenni's die cut papers. I love how she has changed it up a bit and added a pattern (especially polka dots) to the interior.

My best tip is to become happy with your own handwirting and then you can journal right on the page and not have to use your computer unless you really want to. Helps me to finish more projects.

I must go with the concensus. The mini hand held stapler is great for stapling the smaller things in the center of my layout. It's not clumpy to me. As far as the small floral paper, I love it. Im always drawn to floral because it's girly and calming, in addition the little border is a great plus. My most favorite of all is the die cut paper. I love it all and will usually purchase it when I see it. It's unique and special just like I hope my layouts and stories are when I use them. The lace paper are also my favorite even though I may not know how to use them I must have them in case they stop making them. I can't wait to see your layouts in CK using these great and inspiring products. Like always, Ali, you make me want to create!!!! Marilyn
