Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway : Get It Scrapped, Transparent Touches, & Blue Moon Scrapbooking
Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.
Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!

I like to make lists, like Top 3, Top 5, or Random. This allows me to write in small phrases and then the journaling (and the pressure of making sure everything is grammatically correct goes away).
I love journaling via list!

My 17 year old son has a knack for saying the funniest things, so I have kept track of the "Michaelisms" for many years now. I am planning a page with the "Michaelisms" for his graduation next year.

I carry a little notebook everywhere with me so that I can write things done. When I scrap I either look back through the book or I just go with what comes to mind at the time. I also pre-write my journaling on scrap piece of paper before I put it on the layout just to make sure it will fit where planned. Awesome giveaways!

I'm a calendar girl and love to write out activities on them. I have calendars all the way back from when I was in high school 25 years ago. (Man that makes me sound old!)

I think my "tip" will be similar to others, but the best thing I've done is try to have something to write with to capture the adorable things my daughter has said. I've scribbled a lot of things on the refrigerator shopping list over the years or in the small Moleskine notebook I carry in my bag. Since time passes between events and when you are scrapping them, it's really nice to have "in-the-moment" quotes to bring things back to life.

I like to keep it simple and always use my own handwriting. I usually write it out first on a piece of scratch paper to make sure I am saying exactly what I want to.

Don't forget the date and the name of the people in the photo. 50 years from now when someone is looking at your scrapbook, they will have no idea who those people are and when the photo was taken. Also, don't feel the pressure to handwrite your journaling. My handwriting stinks, and I would rather people be able to read it by typing it on the computer.
Thanks for the opportunity to win these great things.

I keep a notebook in my purse so I can jot down notes that I want to remember. Later I can remember the details of the event I want to record.

I started a little notebook where I jot down the funny things that my little girls say... I had tried before but had too rigid rules: chronological order, full description of the event. Now, I just write down the essential and have a fantastic source to pick from for unusual scrapbook comments!

Journaling is something I struggle with! But my tip would be to just get it done. Don't agonize too much over the journaling! Hmmmm........that is good advice for me!

Sometimes journaling needs to be a more detailed record of an event and sometimes a few words can tell the story. Follow your heart, but always tell your story. The main thing is to just DO IT. A picture on pretty paper with lovely embelishments is so nice to look at but 20 years from now what will it mean if the story is not there.Do it. Whatever tip you choose to follow,
Do it.

I am taking photos each day and am trying to write little notes as well. I keep a small notepad in my purse, in my car and in my office. When I finally have time to sit down and create - I can refer to these. My scrapbooking has always been about the story, the words then the photos...
have a fabulous week ali!

I am always forgetting to take a pad of paper with me, and I seem to lose small pieces of paper, but I ALWAYS have a camera with me (even if it is my phone) so when I want to journal, I grab anything I can write on. After I finish journaling, I take a photo, which is usually helpful because the journaling is stored close to the photo that I am writing about. In addition, I have my daughter dictate to me so I journal her thoughts as well as mine if it is a shared moment.

My best journaling tip is to blog about our happenings or my thoughts immediately and then when I get to scrapbooking I can reflect back on that entry.

I always thought you had to do perfect journaling, but now I just right whatever comes to mind. It is so much easier and not so intimidating. After all you are trying to capture the moment and not write an assay.

my best tip is to write whatever you want to say right away. if i wait too long what i want to remember starts to fade and i lose some of that when i try to journal it later.

journal without worrying about what people will think, just be honest- ad the sooner you journal the better you will remember it!

I like to use sticky notes when I am going through my newly developed photos. I write down the details of the day (whether they are pictured or not.) Sometimes I get caught up in the process and forget to leave a block for my journaling- my easy solution is to grab my white uniball or black sharpie & write around the perimeter of the LO (or photo cluster or embellishment) or write on the photo itself.

I have begun the practice of jotting down things (and dating the notes) each day on a little note pad I carry with me wherever I go. Then I tear the notes out and tuck them into my Project 365 album for the current week. Even if I don't get a chance to scrapbook until later-I already have jotted notes or "rough" journaling to document my life during that week in time. It has really helped me to journal more about the every day details AND to feel a great sense of accomplishment.
