Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway : Get It Scrapped, Transparent Touches, & Blue Moon Scrapbooking
Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.
Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!
Transparent Touches & Tags (TTT) is giving away two different prizes this week. The first winner will get to

I like to remember trying to use sensory detail other than sight to make my journaling richer. For instance, include scents when telling your story. If you're jotting down notes, try to include at least one scent. If you're journaling later, look at your pictures and imagine yourself there, trying to remember what it smelled like(salt water/ocean, grass, coffee, flowers, sweet scent of birthday cake, etc.). Sounds are good for this too! Airplanes going overhead at the park, ocean waves breaking, music you were listening too, etc.

My best tip is to LET GO OF EXPECTATIONS AND PERFECTION and WRITE FROM YOUR HEART. No one will care that your handwriting isn't perfect, that you misspelled a word or missed a comma, or that your lines don't line up perfectly, but the emotion behind your words will show through, and that's the important part. :)

great giveaways this week! One of things I've begun doing, particularly on trips or vacations, is bring along a small notebook to jot down stories, feelings, even funny things people are saying. The when it's time to actually scrap the pages, I don't have to rely solely on my faulty memory!

I have the "just do it" attitude to journaling. Sometimes there's a big story to tell, sometimes it's simple. But I always try to get some words on the page. Years from now, family will see the pages and admire pretty pictures, but if there's no journaling much of the story may be lost.

My tip would be to write from the heart and not worry if it sounds corny or not. If it is what you feel, then you can't go wrong.

Just like everything in life, my advice would be: Be yourself. Tell the story just as you would if you were telling it to your children or family in person.

Don't write like it's for a yearbook or the newspaper, just write from your heart and it will be the greatest treasure you can ever pass on. I also try and include lots of small details to keep those wonderful memories going!

Keep a notebook close by at all times so that way when you think of a story or idea you can jot it down before you forget

What works best for me, to get the most detailed and informative journaling possible is to come home from an event and write about it in a notebook within a few days. Write a little title and the date and just jot down quick thoughts. Doesn't have to be in complete sentences or complete thoughts, just write! Because a year or two from now when you get around to scrapping these photos you won't remember all the details of an event even if you think that you will.
Awesome Giveaway!!!

The best journaling tip I've got is to make sure you've got the whole story out somehow on the page. A lot times, if I don't work it into the design, I write a "why I chose to scrapbook this" note on the back of the layout before I display it.

my best journaling tips would be to just start writing. the best cure for the "frozen" feel is to just start putting words down.

I am not crazy about my handwriting, but I hand write most of my journaling. I have seen so many times to leave that "piece" of ourselves in our scrapbooks, and for the most part, it is so much faster and easier thank printing or stamping.

I just try to be honest & real, & think about what I want whoever may read it later to get out of it.

Journaling is very important to me. My best tip is to tell it from the heart. If it is not so much a story as just some pictures you want to showcase then, use the standard who, what, when and where. Just journaling is the important part.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I use my blog for a lot of my journaling jumping off points. AND, when it comes to writing it down, I use my handwriting ALL THE TIME.

My best writing tip...write it down while it is fresh in your mind. Because if not, you will forget!!

My best tip is when you can't com eup with something - use song lyrics. Either that, or ask someone else what they remember about the day/event, etc.
