Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway : Get It Scrapped, Transparent Touches, & Blue Moon Scrapbooking
Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.
Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!

I just write whatever comes to my head until I get it out and then only go back and edit. When you edit as you go, you lose the flow of the words.

i keep a tiny notebook and jot down some thoughts and anecdotes. it's also where i quote the kids - someday soon i'd love to incorporate them into my LOs. today i also signed up for a twitter account. i'm thinking that might also help in my process of documenting thoughts and stuff :)

i usually have a pretty good memory, but am bad about keeping a journal. i started a blog...and then eventually a twitter account to do a full on entry or to leave a little memory jogger, so when i am ready to scrap it i can find great ideas and remember when and what happened.

Spell Check!~I have my husband proof read my work for me. When reading my own writing I often miss spelling errors. They can interfere with the mood of the story I'm telling. He's a big help.

I like to write out my journaling on scrap paper first and see how much I've written, then I decide how to add it to my layout.

I will admit that I need to get better at this. I bought a notebook to start writing some things down in. Alot of the time I will ask my husband or kids about the pictures and what they remember. That way there is always something that I probably forgot about. Plus makes them know they are part of the process in making the pages.

Write as you talk. Don't think that because something is written down it must be in "writing" words. Imagine you are telling your best friend a story and IN THOSE WORDS, write it down!

My best tip is to journal right away even if you know you won't scrapbook the event until later as it is much easier to capture the moment immediately thereafter.

I use my blog to help me journal. I update it as often as I can and use pictures to tell my story. It helps to go back to the blog that I wrote when my pictures were taken to remember the feeling and story from that day.

Great giveaways! I have always struggled with my journaling, especially working on pages for events that happened years ago, months ago, or even days ago. My memory seems to be failing me. I have mommy-of-2 syndrome! ;) To help with jogging my memory, I keep a daily journal of events, even outlines of what I might want to write about pics that I have taken. This has really helped me. I also write my journaling on a scrap piece of paper, if I am going to use my own handwriting on the page. Then I can gauge how much space I need. I find that I am journaling on the computer a lot more though! Simple but it works for me.

I grab a piece of paper and just write at my desk. I write everything that comes to mind. Sometimes I use all of it on a page and sometimes it just works as a springboard for a completely different thought. Love all the goodies!

In my mind I'm always telling the stories tobmy dad who passed away nine years ago. I always include a lot of details. The journaling is the hardest part for me but I work really hard at it.

For journalling a trip, I type it up while it is fresh in my mind. When it is time to scrapbook, I can print out the portiont that I need for each page. I know - that's not in my own handwriting! That's o.k. with me!

I like to pencil my words in first when I'm handwriting journaling. That way I don't have one word squished in at the end because I ran out of room. Use a white art eraser for pencil lines, they're the best.

I write on the spot---as I am doing the page. When I am printing my pictures, the memories come flooding in and my journaling is from the heart. I love it when it comes together so nicely that it brings tears to the reader's eyes. I try and capture the moment, whether it be sad, funny or just ordinary. I do keep a journal for moments I don't want to forget, but typically, it is right then and there as the page is coming together.

When I journal, I just pretend I am talking out loud to someone, telling them the story. I then reread it to make sure it flows.

I write things down when the event happens...or shortly after. That way, I don't forget the details when I scrap the photos!

My best journaling tip is to write down the things that my children say about the event or the picture when they see it.

I wish I had a great tip! It's so hard for me to write. I guess I want it to be perfect. My tip is don't wait, the kids don't care about grammar, they want the memory in words.

I tend to consider what emotions were present at the time of the photo, and then journal the rest from that. I find that breathes life into an otherwise dull bit of facts.
