is an online workshop led by Elise Blaha. Over two weeks, this class will explore
techniques on how to build mini books and layouts from the ground up.
We will break away from the traditional scrapbooking products and
design our own paper and embellishments. Each weekday, there will be a
lecture, a project, an idea to try that day and an idea to save for
future use. In addition, there will be photos, journaling prompts and
giveaways. Class starts on June 1st.

i always tell my frineds that are just starting that is ok to not be caught up and you don't have to scrap every photo you take. :-)

My best advice to a new scrapbooker is that you do not need to "buy it all" to start out. A few simple supplies can go a long way! Tracy

not to stress how many photos you have to scrap.. or how behind you are.... to start scrapping the here and now, and dip into the past when time allows.... to enjoy the process ;)

Don't get caught up with all the products and choices. Use what you have to start with. Slowly add products that you find you can use over and over again.

My number one piece of advice is to not sweat the small stuff - it doesnt have to be perfect!! Get messy and enjoy the process of creation - dont be hung up on making it perfect!!

Hi! Truly... I wish someone had inspired me to take a more simple approach to my scrapbooks and capture the memories in words as well as the pictures at a much earlier time. I used to get really caught up in all the stuff I could put on a page and it would take me hours to do one page. Don't get too far that way!!

Its not just about 12x12 paper and photos. Its also about preserving other artifacts... thoughts scribbled on a napkin, receipts, coasters from restaurants, baby id bracelets, toddler art projects, anything!!!

I would advise going to a crop at your LSS. Scrapbookers are such a sharing group of people and so willing to open their scrapbooks for anyone to see. It's such a great way to be inspired. I am constantly amazed by the great ideas I get at crops and how willing people are to share how they did it. I've never had anyone tell me no when I ask to see their books!!

Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of supplies and cute things out there. Start out simple and then gradually add to what you are doing. A great foundation is the best way to go rather than overloading your pages with cute accents just because you can.

Don't worry about scrapping in any particular order. Just grab your recent photos and go for it. Get the stories down but don't stress about chronology. If it makes you feel better. Put your pages in a three ring binder style album and rearrange as you go.

Advice: You don't have to be "cutesy" or "artsy" or "graphic" or any other adjective in order to be a scrapbooker, and being a scrapbooker does not necessarily make you those things. Just be yourself and pair your stories with your pictures: that's scrapbooking.
