Family Treasures

What priceless pictures those are! Love the one of your grandparents! They look so young and in love!

I plan on taking your BPS class and would LOVE you to incorporate heritage photos in some of those class projects. I've been working on scanning in my and my husbands family photos and it would be wonderful to create something with them.

I can only imagine the scale of this project he has taken on. On Father's Day I went through a suitcase of old pics with my dad. There was a LOT he didn't recall but those images of East Berlin and my dad at Texas A&M are incredible. Others of his family & my mothers fam, wow- true treasures!!

Love the family memories! My grandparents are 87 and 91, and for their 65th wedding anniversary, I asked my grandmother to write down the story of her and my grandfather. I have the letters that she wrote, and I took her text and incorporated it in with old family pictures. My digging unearthed a picture from 1887 of a family named Melbraaten taken in Minnesota (I'm a Calfornia girl). Who knew this would turn out to be my great-great-great Grandfather and his family! And that they would be related to ME!
I have since become the family historian, and have uploaded my book to Shutterfly (I created it digitally in PSE). The family is printing out copies and asking for more details. But I have that special feeling, knowing that the discovery was mine!

Vintage family photos are SUCH a treasure! My father-in-law recently gave me 9 photo albums that his mother had compiled and some of them go back to the 1930's! I told him that he may as well have handed me a chest full of gold - I'm so excited about them!

Thanks Ali - Love this post. I have tons of these pictures from my paternal grandparents. They loved tio take pictures. The pictures really enhance my understanding of my grandmother. I wish I had something similar from my maternal grand parents.

I scanned boxes of old photos the last time I went to visit my parents. I LOVE them. Photos of my grandmother when she was a baby, my other grandparents while they were dating (she always looked like a flapper!), my parents in old studio & school photos that I'd never seen. I've been using them for birthday cards & gifts and am working on several projects for Christmas. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. Your blog is a great inspiration!

That's awesome! I love visiting my grandpa and looking through the old photos - many have stories he tells me, and I have NOT recorded them! UGH! It would be good to pass them on, but it is also good when I get to spend time with him!

I've been doing the same thing with old familyphoto's from both sides, when I'm finished the cd-roms with all those old pfoto's will make great decembergifts! I've been working on it for years and am trying to get it done this year!
Afterwards I will print them all and make something inbetween a 'normal'photoalbum and a scrapbookalbum. Your class might come in handy there ;-)
I still have 3 of my grandparents, 2 of them with trustable memories, to ask for the stories to go with them (which I have already been doing).

what a great treasure trove of family photos. you are so lucky to have them - especially for someone else to have done all the hard work of scanning.

Ali - I can't wait to see how you incorporate these photos into your pages. I have hundreds of old photos from my Dad's side of the family and have no idea how to use them in ancestry pages.

There is such an amazing resemblance between anna, you, your mother, and your grandmother (the first pic)....so COOL!
