Oh I love this and the comments - My brother was 4 yrs older than me and called our parents by first name so I grew up thinking that is what I was supposed to do and have always done it when addressing them - people often thought it was so weird it's good to hear I'm not he only one. When talking about them I do say my Mom or My Dad though. :)
So precious....I remember when I went away for the first time when my son was 4 1/2 and when I got back he started calling me "mom" instead of "mumma". I cried and cried because he seemed so grown up all of the sudden....
Sweet! I have used the iPhone to record when my 3-yr-old is doing his "I-am-my-own-walkman"-thing and other memorable sounds my kids do. I'm tempted to upgrade to the 3GS just to be able to save moving pictures of the kids too.
My son is always saying funny things and I try to remember to write it down or text myself. I do an album each year for my son and there's always at least one page dedicated to his "Bradyisms". I find that at 9 he's saying less of them so I'm really glad I wrote down all of those so I can remember how funny he was one day. One of my favorites happened when we were discussing a pool party where I would be a chaperone. My son asked me if I was going to wear a bra (he meant a bikini)!
OMGoodness, how adorable is that...they usually start calling you by your first name when they are in their teens. My, they grow up so fast, Ali...mom.
Oh how cute is this conversation... i love moments like these.
Today my little Sophia was talking about when she gets married that I'm going to miss her while she's on her honeymoon. She then reassured me that if she lives far away she'll fly to see me in the mornings :) She's only 4. ha ha..
Hi Ali,
Here's a handy hint for the iPhone + scrapbooking. Screenshots! Press the Home button (circle) and the top button (long thin rectangle on the top) together and it takes a pic and stores it in your photos. COOL! I do this all the time for funny conversations, shopping lists, etc. Then import to iPhoto, print out & scrap!
I <3 my iPhone, too... except for that battery that just doesn't seem to last long enough (I see that yours was low)!
And how cool is it that you will be able to leave that on your phone (well, it's on your blog, too) and it will be there for you later??
TFS!! :)
Out of the mouths of babes....I can't stand it, I just can't stand it. They are too precious. Keep documenting all of those little gems from conversations. They are too priceless to ever forget.
My 11-year-old started calling us by our first names when he was 3. I thought it was a phase and would pass, but he was adamant about it. He has autism and I think it was a comfort for him at first -- so confusing to learn that the other kids have a mommy and daddy also, at least he knows exactly who we are! Others aren't so sure. I think strangers must assume I'm the babysitter!
And I agree with the previous comments that this is a great idea to keep track of these sweet conversations we forget too soon.
My favorite scrapbook pages ever are ones that share conversations I've had with my kids. This is priceless. Thanks for sharing, Ali!

So sweet! I actually sent myself a text the other day to remember something funny my 3 year-old said at the water park!

You have to admit...he has a way with words! It's great that those words are so documented. Can't wait to read more Simon-isms!
