Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.
And now, the giveaway.
Three people are going to win a spot in my Yesterday & Today workshop. To be entered please share just the subject of a story about yourself you would like to document. Comments will close tomorrow, Friday September 24th at noon Pacific. Winners will be posted shortly after.

There are so many stories that I want to document. But I would really like to document my connection with my four children and compare our childhoods. Thanks Ali!

I've been wanting to scrapbook about my Grandmas and what they meant to me and how much I still think about them. They both passed away more than 20 years ago and now that I am a mom I wonder so much about their lives as mothers. I think of the things I know we have in common - cooking and nice things. I wonder what else we would have had in common. I'd love to document how much these women still influence my life today.

Ali...I had no idea your class would offer so many options! Sounds fantastic. I would love to tell the story of my childhood in contrast to my daughters right now. For years we have looked like "twins" yet such a generation apart. I think your class would be perfect!

I would like to document the games I used to play with my brother and sister when we were all little...playing Star Wars under the dining room table with my brother, playing "school" with my sister, fighting over CandyLand, our first Atari, etc. Watching my nephews grow up and play together now is triggering so many of these memories from when I was little.

I know it seems sappy, but my father died when I was only 4. There is so little that I know about him and our connection to each other. I would love to document what traits I got from my dad and the stories from my childhood that involve him. So many stories, but I think it's important for my kids to be able to look at these stories. Thanks for the chance to win!

Ali I'm so excited to finally be able to take one of your classes!
One story I would like to document is the relationship between and the other women in my family (mother, aunts, grandmothers) and the effect they have had on my life (creatively, inspiring, motivating, wisdom shared). I can't wait!

Okay, Ali, I suppose by posting this here I am commited to doing this album which I have put off for FAR too long (especially if I win a spot in the class!). I was an exchange student to Belgium my senior year of high-school which is now half my life ago. It seems like such a daunting task to do an album as I was there for a full year. But this is a very important story for me to tell! Thanks for the opportunity! -Alisa

My grandfather who I never knew was a professional photographer during the early 1900's. He specialized in portraits but also documented the happenings in the small town of Bath, NY. I have several of his piblished work and occassionally I have been able to locate his work on ebay. I want to document his story.

My lifelong search for meaning and purpose and the path I've taken (sort of a looking back and looking ahead, kind of thing)...

I want to document the women who shaped my childhood/my life. Every now and then, my Aunt Bertha pops in my mind. She was only alive for a short time in my life, but I still remember Aunt Bertha biscuits. I've never documented these small but important memories..hmm. Now's the time! Thanks for a chance to win!

I'd like to do a "My Two Moms...Two parts of me" page where I show what each of my moms has given to my life, the good and the bad. Scrapping for me is almost like therapy, a way to see my life through a new lens and make better choices because of what I've learned. I'd really love to win a spot in your class, your approach and style fit so well with my reasons for scrapping. Thanks for the inspiration!
