Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

I would like to document my childhood and the closeness with my Grandparents. It's something I would love for my children to one day have to read so they could understand more about my life - before they came along.

I'd like to record my years of being a semi-professional magician, from the age of 10 until my mid-twenties, especially the relationship I shared with my great uncle who taught me all my magic tricks. Time to start passing along the tradition to my own daughter!

I would like to document my role as a mother in light of my own mother. Things about my childhood that now make more sense because I am a mom.

I just received some scanned photos of my paternal grandparents and great-grandparents. And I really want to put those pictures into stories for my girls, so they'll know where they come from.
My grandfather passed away in March and we found many of his documentation of pictures in words. He wrote many details in the back of his pictures: the who, when, and why. Very intentional and purposeful about his life.
During the funeral service, the pastor showed a calendar, full of my grandfather's handwriting, documenting the every day details. Quite an amazing story keeper. I'm looking forward to get my hands on the calendar (my family lives in Indonesia) and get a glimpse of his daily, beautiful life.
Thanks for the opportunity, Ali! Would really treasure the opportunity to join the class!

When my Grandpa died a few months ago, I receieved the gift of all of the family photos from my dads side of the family! I have a lot of stories to tell about amazing people, but I really want to focus on my dad who died of cancer when I was 16. I especially want to document the things that he always said he would tell me when I was "old enough", Vietnam, his brother who also died of cancer as a teenager, etc and fill in the gaps of what I don't know about my dad. I need all the help I can get! Thanks for the opportunity!

I would love to compare my story with that of my great grandmothers. I have several lovely pictures of her in everyday life...pictures that have always made me pause and ponder what she was thinking and feeling in that moment. I have a shot of her sitting on a balcony with a lovely dress surrounded by her best friends. My goal is to find simliar pictures of me during my lifetime that mirror my grandmothers. I think its fascinating to think that human beings really haven't changed all that much...we need kinship, love and family. My grandmother struggled and felt and experienced all of the emotions I am feeling now. I love to think of that!!!!

I'd like to document on "Becoming Authentic" — i.e., on becoming and being the real me. Oh, how I'd love a spot in "Yesterday and Today"....

I don't know who my biological dad really is, there are two possibilities, and I knew one of them, the other passed when I was very young so I would love to document on that touchy, confusing subject so that my kids know what is going on. Too many secrets that have to get out!

After feeling poorly for years, I was just diagnosed with a fructose and lactose intolerance. I feel like I need to document the journey to help come to term with what it means for the rest of my life.

I was critically injured fighting a fire in 1997. As a young firefighter, it was a devastating injury that cost me my career in the fire service. While I only spent a few short years as a firefighter, I found it incredibly painful to move on and find new work and new meaning for my life. I decided that I had to take that incident and use it to help someone else who might experience a similar incident. I started a non-profit organization that helps injured emergency service workers as well as the families and fire departments of firefighter who die in the line of duty. I want to be able to document this work but it has been painful for me to think about how I could document my past as a firefighter, my accident, and now the work that I do. I think this class would be perfect in helping me sort through all of those memories. Thank you!
