Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

I would like to document my grandmas life- we have lots of pictures - but no stories written down- they are all in my moms head!

My brother was born premature and I've always heard those stories over and over again. My mom did a pretty job documenting it with pictures. The doctors were never sure if he'd be OK, and by age three he still hadnt spoke. But now, he is a handsome 26 year old lawyer. I'd love to document his whole life! I adore my brother, and think of this as an opportunity to show him my love for him, and contribute in some way to his legacy. And in the Today part, my family, my girls, my husband and my new-found love for life! I love your blog entries, you are truly an inspiration!!!! Thank you for the opportunity, I truly hope I can get one spot!!!!

My family is going through a bit of turmoil at the moment and my Mum has been the most amazing support to me and my children.
For her 70th birthday (6 months away) I want to give her the story of her life, I have started going through photos and talking to her best friends and family members but I am finding it hard to know where and how to begin and time is a ticking.

I am not much of a historian-type scrapbooker and yet I believe it's really important and who better than one of my favorite three bloggers and teachers to learn how to explore this part of telling the stories??? I am already signed up by the way! Wouldn't take a chance on missing the op.

I would like to document my childhood but it isn't easy because it wasn't a very happy one. Still I would like my children to know how different life was then and how things they take for granted weren't always here.

I wasn't going to enter, but then I read your question. I've been struggling to tell this story for about 2 years. After the birth of my 2nd child I became very sick, and on the day he turned 6 weeks old I was admitted into the hospital for 3 weeks. There are so many areas of that time to share - my husband/sister/in-laws support; my frustrations about being away from my kids; my fears about my illness. Now that I am healthy (YEAH!) I find that it can still make me weak to even think about documenting it... but I feel that it is so important to my younger child's understanding of why there are so few photos of him. And many other things.
Thanks Ali - even putting this into 'cyberspace' should help move me forward.

I really want to document my WEIGHT LOSS journey. In the last 8 months I have lost 49 lbs. I have 6 more to go to my first goal and then I'm thinking I want to lose 10 more after that. I never thought I would get back to my normal weight again after putting on so much and I really want to document this journal in both pictures and words. I am so excited to finally be at the tail end and I think it's worth telling that story.

I would like to document the way I was raised and the way that had and still has an impact on me as an adult, wife and mother. I would like to document my struggle today in realising this AND working on how to deal with it 'today'.

I think I would like to document the struggles my mother went through battling some ferocious diseases and the strength she taught me. Not sure how I would do that, though.

I would like to document "life changing" decisions...e.g that if they hadn't been taken life wouldn't be as it is. For me one moment is being driven to London by my parents to start nurse training. If they hadn't put me in the car that day I probably wouldn't have gone! I wouldn't have met my husband and we wouldn't have our 3 beautiful children. Thank you for the chance to enter the giveaway.
