Journal Your Christmas Giveaway

The first time I did any sort of journal/creative adventure during the holiday season was Shimelle Laine's Journal Your Christmas back in 2005 (check out my December 2005 archives for more).
My experience in Shimelle's workshop inspired me to create my first December Daily in 2007 that was published in my Studio A column in Creating Keepsakes magazine. The main differences being that I set up the structure of my album in advance (trying to keep it simple) and that I wanted to focus on documenting the daily activities over the course of the 25 days leading up to Christmas without specific prompts.
It's a creative adventure I highly recommend so I thought it would be fitting to give away a spot to Shimelle's class this week.
One person and a friend of their choice will recieve a spot in Shimelle Laine's fabulous Journal Your Christmas online workshop.
Journal your Christmas is an online class that takes you right through the Christmas season, from the 1st of December to the 6th of January - the twelfth day of Christmas. Through 37 full colour prompts that arrive in your inbox daily, you'll be inspired by topics that let you enjoy this year's celebrations while reliving your very favourite Christmas memories, and you'll have plenty of ideas for making your pages with hundreds of beautiful examples from a variety of scrappers.
Instead of letting the holidays run you, a Christmas journal has helped many women take back their Christmas so they can enjoy and celebrate the magic of Christmas. Other class benefits include a printable Christmas planner, digital and printable supplies designed exclusively for class and a bonus guide to improving your Christmas photographs including easy-to-use tips from dozens of professional photographers.
To be entered into the giveaway please leave a comment below sharing how you plan to create a more sane holiday season (or more crazy if that's what you need). Comments will be closed on Thursday at 8pm Pacific with the winners posted shortly after.

I think that it will be crazy, but a fun kind of crazy. I lost both my mom and dad this year, so I am going to miss them terribly but I am going to celebrate (fun kind of crazy) with the people that I love and show them how much I love them while they are still around.
There is a great website that I found this year called Organized Christmas.com and it has helped me so much to get prepared for the "busyness". Thanks for all that you do.

I want to have real Christmas for me and my kids, Christmas at home with handmade decoration and food... Christmas as family tradition that my kids can remember later as childhood memories...

You mentioned Shimelle Laine in another post, so I went to check out the description for this class. It sounds great, I have my fingers crossed. I just want to enjoy each day and moment in December this year, I'm not a big Christmas person "ba hum bug".

I plan on starting early and today is the day. I have been organizing everything. My scrap room is kinda of dump all room and I am sick of it. I have been at it since 9:30 finally getting the kids school memories in order from last year (now if I can find those cool Becky H school memories folders-how in the heck can I misplace 26 folder?? I will start to decorate the house next week so we when get back from Thanksgiving family visting the house is done. So in a nut shell when everything else clean and organized in the house I will be able to relax and savor the memories.

I'm planning on being much more intentional and discerning about what my family and I participate in this year. And I'm finishing my December Daily this weekend - that should help!! And I'm thinking of making digi Christmas cards this year.
And of course, I am going to win this course!! :)

I think for me it is all about preparation. With two little ones, I need to get the decorations out early and then make a list of all the things we want to do this season. Most of all, I just want to enjoy each and every moment of this magical time.

I plan on participating in the activities that I enjoy, rather than the ones that I feel I "should" do. And I've decided that I'm not going to feel guilty about that decision! Thanks for the chance to win a special Christmas present.

Ha! I thought I would have a more "sane" Christmas by shopping early and just enjoying the season. So far that has not worked. We are crazy busy at work, working 11.5 hours a day and now my daughter has come down with the swine flu!! I am taking care of my daughter, 2 grandchildren, one who developed a fever this morning. Whoa is me, foiled again. This is so insane. Where do I get off? But you know, I am still grateful, and I WILL enjoy the season, no matter what happens! I love Christmas!!

I plan on having a less-than-crazy holiday this year by taking things one day at a time. I will not try to do everything and make cookies for everyone in the free world! I will do what I can, spend those precious little everyday moments with my family adn ENJOY them! Not panic about all that I should be accomplishing and them BOOM the holidays are over and I missed all the good stuff.

I have been planning ahead more for the things I want and need to do and re-evaluating what is good for our family this season.
I also have a decorated folder with gift lists, travel plans, and Christmas traditions. I'm using the internet to shop for the best prices, and gifts instead of running around to all the stores to find the perfect gifts.

I have already started making detailed lists of what needs to be done when in order to get a "head start". I'm also simplifying in order to really enjoy the point of the holiday, and to spend real quality time with my family instead of adding things to our to-do list.

Hi Ali. We focus on the religious aspect of Christmas but keep in mind that our nieces and nephews believe in Santa. Gift cards and hand made items (small but meaningful) will be given by us this Christmas.
Joyful Holidays to you.
Year 2 for me on the December Daily. Woo Hoo.

I'm taking time to enjoy the season. I'm trying to plan ahead... no buying (or wrapping) at the last minute. Putting more thought into the gifts I do purchase and making things special - homemade treats, gifts, etc.

I'm currently looking at our community calendar to see what's going on in our city to celebrate the holidays. I'm marking things down, knowing they're not set in stone, but it will be nice to know what's going on and make time for them. Too often the days slip away and we haven't done anything other than shop. (Ugh. My least favorite part of the season: the focus on spending money.) I'm hoping that finding a variety of activities (at home and around town) will help add to our family's experience!

I plan to get my shopping & wrapping
done early like I did last year.
This way, things are more relaxed
& I can concentrate on what means
most....FAMILY

Is there sanity when it comes to the holidays? This year, we decided we're spending the WHOLE holiday with one side of the family instead of traveling all over God's green earth. Should prove to be interesting. Excited about the extended time but I'm sure I'll miss the craziness of trying to see both families who live 500 miles apart.
