Looking For Non-Toy Stocking Ideas
Running errands and catching up on some stuff around here today and thinking about stocking stuffers. I would love to hear if you have any traditions/favorites that are not toys to go in a child's or an adult's stocking. Anything beyond books, movies, candy, oranges, etc?
Hope to have Days 7 & 8 of my December Daily up tomorrow.

One more thing! My husband and I started a tradition of buying each other ornaments for the stocking. We pick a Saturday night and head off to the Hallmark store to find the perfect one. Usually the ornament has a special significance...an event, a new favorite thing, a destination, etc. My mom also likes to buy the kids an ornament for christmas and both years we have done this she has bought the same ornament. The first year Adam got a duplicate and last year it was my turn. We're gonna wait and see what happens this year! I like to take a picture of the ornament (to scrapbook, of course) and remember what happened that year.

Electrical tape is cool too. You can get different colors, and it has a little stretch and thickness to it, so you can do different things with it.

Note: My kids karate school uses elec. tape for stripes on their belts. I don't recommend getting elec. tape for my boys anymore - they ended up with some extra stripes last year!

New toothbrush, trial size toothpaste, small hand sanitizer and always a new chapstick. I try to put things in the stocking that will actually get used up...along with the fun little toys and stuff of course!

We usually get small things that we normally wouldn't buy for ourselves but always seem to need. Hair ties, barrettes, girly stuff... As we got older, my Dad would start to brach out a bit, a small wrench set, a solar flashlight...one year I got jumper cables! (I had left my car headlights on one too many times, which became a family joke)

Something fun that my husband did one year for me, was that he bought me a magazine. It was one that I rarely read, but he knew I would be interested in it nonetheless.
I second chapstick/lip gloss. My little boy loves M&M chapsticks and I just him some more today for his stocking!
And definitely anything 'artsy'.... crayons, markers, coloring books, stickers, etc.

I was going to say tape too. My mom was big on the office supplies, which as a child just made me feel so grown-up, and as I got older were just really useful - tape, cool white-out dispensers, a tiny stapler, post-its.

Magazine subscription - put a rolled up copy of the current issue, with a note that a subscription is following. My husband loved it. Also travel size products (for your husband), like cologne are always nice. I also usually give him a new pair of gloves. Good luck!

The pencils with their name on them are my favorite! (My mom used to give me these when I was a kid!)
We like to get the gift cards too - especially for places we were planning to go anyway - like bowling, ice skating, the movies, batting cages, etc. It just makes it more fun that they have their own money to pay for it when we all go!

I know you have a lot of comments and i haven't read them so sorry if I am repeating others.
I like to do chap stick, tooth brushes and school supplies..crayons, erasers, glue sticks, markers (usually by this time of year the kids are running low). Sometimes Santa even leaves kid soap and hand sanitizers and tissues. Baseball cards for boys (I don't have girls).
For babies..a couple of favorite baby food snacks or jars, bath toys, teethers.
Happy Holidays!

We have always done a new toothbrush and a travel size toothpaste. One year "Santa" forgot and my kids have never forgotten. Now our 4 older children are putting toothbrushes and mini-toothpaste tubes in their for their spouses and their children.
