Sponsor Giveaways : Studio Calico, Memory Works, Lisa Leonard, & Designer Digitals

Three people will win the entire Home Front collection (papers, stickets, journaling cards, and FabRips) from Studio Calico.
The concept of Studio Calico began long before it was a reality. In 2000, while working at a local scrapbook store, April developed an appreciation for innovative supplies along with a respect for preserving memories. Thus, the concept of combining fresh products with non-traditional scrapbook supplies emerged.
At Studio Calico, we hope to encourage the creative process by providing the best supplies on the market as well as a community that is supportive every step of the way.
In the past 2 years we've grown from an idea, to a small boutique of sorts, to manufacturing our own products. As we've grown, we've stayed true to the basics, while looking to the future.

Three people will receive the lovely Word Of The Year necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs.
In addition Lisa is offering a discount for readers. Enter "myword15" for 15% off your purchase.

My word is SIMPLIFY. I have taken a good look around and realized there is too much clutter (physical & emotional) in my life and have decided to get back to the basics.

My word would be HERE. To be present in each moment, rather than somewhere else thinking of all the other things I should be doing.

Still deciding on my word... After reading through the word of the year worksheet, DESIGN stuck out to me. It is by design that a lot of stuff happens, not just chance. So we are going to put our home up for sale and move closer to my family and work. Just 20 minutes away from where we are now, but something I've wanted to do for a long time. Also, design just means so much - like planning/decorating the new home we buy, scrapbooking our lives, planning for the best year ever at work.
I did a wordle.net design about words that stood out to me (kind of brainstorming before choosing my word of the year.) SIMPLIFY was the most prominent word in the design. That is something I am definitely working on, too. Decluttering, letting go, not getting caught up in unnecessary things...
Thanks for the chance to win. Your blog is always an inspiration!

My word of the year for 2010 is CELEBRATE! Celebrate the little things, make proper celebration of the big things, gathering to celebrate relationships, celebrating the passage of time and good things to come. 2009 was a year of extreme trial for my marriage and to focus on the reason we are together and we loved and still love one another we decided we need to celebrate the other spouse more, celebrate our family more. We started off the year with a date! And then a day spent as family playing Uno, eating popcorn... it was a simple celebration of being together but something we've simply let go by the wayside. Looking forward to much more.

My one word this year is "DO"!!!!! Always procrastinating.............I have great creative ideas and they just seem to stay stuck in my head!!!! This year I am going for "GOLD"......get those pages done.............get those pics printed..........and finally create those "PICTURE BOOKS OF LIFE & LOVE"...as I call them. As I am a mushy writer......there is no doubt that all to read for generations to come (I HOPE)........will feel the love I have for my family and also feel the person I am without them having to actually have known me!!!!!
That to me is what scrap booking is all about!!!! Leaving your mark for loved ones down the road........you will never get to meet!!!!

I have not chosen my word yet - may actually go for a word a week as I have so many that mean something to me! This year I am going to try and concentrate on living . . . living in the moment, living life to its fullest . . . I've always been one to try and make everyone else happy - time to start living!

OH MY!!!! I just posted and do not know where it went......how will I remember those ramblings???? They were quite inspirational (FOR ME ANYWAY)!!!!
OK so here is my word:
"DO"
I am such a procrastinator...........I have great MOJO...problem is I keep it in my head....now my plan is to "DO"..get those pics printed....get those ideas solidified and just get going!!!! I love to scrap....not that it is all about the pretty layouts and pictures for me. To me it means my self expression....my love...passion and really is my "Story Picture Book"! I was scrapping with a friend last night and the comment was brought up about "what do you think will happen with all of this when we are gone"????? I "PRAY" my memoirs will never fall into unappreciative hands and these stories will live forever. All of my childhood pictures and memories vanished (I'm 53 now)! I think this is what brought me to this place of preservation of life!!!! I have a handful of pics of myself between the ages of 1 - 8, I have 3 pics of my father who passed at a young age! I beleive this is what has made me into the picture taking fiend that I am.
So to 2010 and really pulling those ideas out of my head and putting them to paper.

Happy New Year Ali! My word for 2010 is HOME. The arrival of our second child next April means i will be home more this year. But also in a wider sense of meaning. I've learned that giving things a home/ creating a home for you name it, brings peace in our home. So that's what i will be doing more. But also practising FEELING @ HOME in situations that are initially out of my comfort zone.

My word for 2010 is ENJOY. I want to enjoy all that God has blessed me with, my husband, my two sons, my parents and the sister and my friends. I want to enjoy a rainy day, the boys with all their friends. I want to take in everything and enjoy it and hopefully in turn bring joy to others.

My word, as crazy as it sounds, is NOW. As in,"live in the now", "enjoy the now", as it will one day be the past. One way I plan on doing this is by being more aware of how the daily, mundane stuff is actually a fleeting gift when it comes to child rearing. One day I'll really miss being able to cook for my children, doing their laundry and picking up their toys! (Okay, maybe not the laundry part!)

PRESERVE.
This is the word that I hope will inspire and guide me this year.
Last year it was RESTORE. I needed that badly, because I have traveled and moved many times in my life and over the years have lost many valuable photos. Yet some others were on the film (yup, back in those days!), never turned into photos at all. I have done a lot of recovering of those images: found people who may have had a copy (oh how easy that sounds now!), scanned the negatives and turned the films into photos, organized all of my photos (digital and printed), etc. It was a lot of work (!!!), but it feels great to recover what would have been lost forever.
Having all of this done, makes me realize that I could just as easily lose the story the goes with those pictures, unless I PRESERVE what I found in the words that belong with them.
So, in 2010, I am inspired to PRESERVE what I have.
Cheers to all!
