I Just Like Scrapbooking : Two New Layouts
Tags:There will be more about his birthday in layouts to come, but this photo deserved it's own page. Click layout to view larger.
I used two pieces of acrylic that came in a 12x12 package from Fancy Pants to designate the shape of each side (product is a couple years old). I cut around the shapes using a fingertip craft knife from Fiskars. The photo and the cardstock with journaling are underneath the acrylic pieces. Those pieces are kept in place by three small pieces of embroidery floss that I stitched in place.
The faint lines on top of the white cardstock are actually some clear embossed stamps that show up much better in person. There was a bit of glitter mixed in with my UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) which made for a bit of festive embossing.
CARDSTOCK : American Crafts (Testing it out and it's really nice. For those of you who've been around awhile you may notice that I have ventured out of my self-imposed five cardstock colors. And yes, it feels good.)
DECORATIVE ACRYLIC PIECES : Fancy Pants
JOURNALING : my typewriter
ALPHABET STAMPS :See And Stamp Alphabet & Numbers Set
THE MOST WONDERFUL STORY STAMP :coming soon from Technique Tuesday or available now digitally at Designer Digitals

My friend Kim took these photos of Anna in December. She's got great light at her house. Click layout to view larger.
Both these layouts today are stories of celebration. One celebrates a specific moment and the other is celebrating the simple blessings of everyday life. I want my layouts to be a balance of these sorts of celebratory pages and others that tell longer stories with more words.
I will be sad when my stash of classic Making Memories wordfetti is finally all gone.

I really like the Make a Wish layout, especially how you framed the picture and journaling with the bracketed shape. It just looks so cool, especially with the dark paper overlaid on top. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Ali
Great layouts love them both. The expression on Simon's face is just gorgeous. Just a question... in Anna's layout, the bottom scallop seems to be an inward scallop not an outward scallop. How did you do this? Curious....
Thanks for sharing
Cheers Paula

Hi Ali,
As usual, two amazing layouts. This post came at a perfect time for me. I have a scrap day scheduled with some friends on Friday, and while I am usually one to scrap the stories, you have inspired me to create a celebratory layout for each of my girls. It has been too long. I can't wait.
Thank you, as always, for your daily inspiration.

Both layouts are beautiful, but the yellow used in the one of Anna draws me to it. The metal circle with the heart is darling!

Acrylics are plastic pieces. The acrylic pieces (2 that are mirror-images of each other) were used to trim the photo and the white cardstock for the journaling. The acrylic pieces are just on top of those two - the brown cardstock is just plain ;). Totally hard to explain :)

I definitely do. Let me see if I can find some to link you to - some of them have been in my books and/or used in my online class. I think it's important to include the challenging times as well as the happy times - they are all a part of each of our lives.

They are both beautiful layouts with photos that make me feel the emotions...what more can you ask for!! However, the scrapper in me feels with you when you've moved to a 'new' colour of cardstock (how risque) and one of my biggest fears...not enough wordfetti. I love making memories for all thier products, and Margie. But there can never be enough wordfetti!!
chuckles, ev

Ali I just love when you share your layouts....I am going to miss them in Creating Keepsakes although you were the only reason why I brought them, I have reason to stop since we have to pay over $9.95 for a copy here. Love these two as always......thankyou for sharing.
