Guest Post : Making Memory Keeping Simple by Katie Pertiet
Tags:Sometimes there’s just not a lot of time to scrap but you want to have a little memento of your travels or a special day and a little badge book is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to do that!
You can pick up a package of plastic badge holders in horizontal or vertical format at your local office supply store for just about $3.00.
Using either Word or an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop Elements, make a new document sized 3.5” x 2.375. Bring in your photo and scale to size. For my overlay I used Ali’s Travel Memory + Title Photo Overlays - scaling them 55% to fit onto my badge document.
I changed the colors of the overlays to maintain readability over each photo (view a tutorial from Ali on how to do this in Photoshop Elements here) and added a little note about what we were doing in each photo on top of the overlays. I saved each page as a JPEG file and then created an 8.5x11 letter-sized document and arranged all the pages for printing.
A nice thing about this type of mini book is you don’t need to have a large format printer. I can get 8 pages on one letter-sized paper.
After printing trim your pictures, insert them into the plastic sleeves, wrap up with some ribbon and call it done! Simple as that! A perfect way to document your spring break!

Fabulous way to do this little album. I did one before and while I resized the pics I scrapped the layout. This is so much easier and fast and still looks great!

Katie: I love your projects and have gotten quite a few of your products on DesignerDigitals....I got acquainted with your work when I did Jessica Sprague's online class "Up and Running with Photoshop". As a new digiscrapper I love the looks of your designs---they are fun and classy and pair up super well with Ali's stuff....together you both INSPIRE me to be creative---thanks SOOOOO much.

Thank you SO MUCH Katie & Ali! I've been trying to find an idea for a cute little brag book to keep in my purse for months & months. Something crafty, but something that can be tossed around & won't get messed up; this is "THE" PERFECT solution! I bought the badge holders & will be working on my cute little book tomorrow, I'm SO excited! Thank you again!

Hey Katie/Ali - great idea...I had one question...when you mention that you "scale the overlay to 55% to fit on the badge"..how do you do that? When I click image>resize>scale and then enter 55% in the width and heighth - it comes out way to small. I have been eyeballing it - but wanted to know if there was an exact science to it. Thanks so much! Stephanie

Our company is planning to conduct a training this month and I was assigned to work on the participants badges. I am working on the design now and hopefully my design will be acceptable. I will try to inject your idea to make my design better.
