Teaching Ourselves To Really Live
Tags:ANNA QUINDLEN :Life is made of moments, small pieces of silver amidst long stretches of tedium. It would be wonderful if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the ones most of us lead now, that won't happen. We have to teach ourselves now to live, really live...to love the journey, not the destination.
I'm heading up to Portland today to participate in Technique Tuesday's BLISS weekend event. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones and launching my Storyology workshop. It's been a crazy work-week and I must say I might just enjoy a couple nights in a hotel room all to myself.
Look for a new giveaway to post on Saturday morning. Have a great weekend.

Wonderful quote! I really do live for moments, little moments throughout the day, that make me smile. Thanks to a life altering event almost fourteen years ago, I learned that even the worst day has at least a handful of wonderful smile worthy little moments to hold on to.
Enjoy your quiet time and hopefully, restore, revive, and relax! :>

Bummer that I have to work and can't attend the Bliss Weekend. If I was really strong, I could through a rock across the Columbia from my house to the hotel. (But I don't throw rocks; that would be wrong.) I hope you'll get sunshine at some point. I'll send happy and creative thoughts your way.

You will enjoy your time away, Ali. Alone. It WILL be good. But, you will find yourself at the oddest moments stopping to think that it's time for Anna's snack or you better get in the car quickly or you'll be late to pick up Simon. At least that's what happens to me. Even in those rare moments alone, as Moms, I think, our thoughts are still consumed by our families at home (and mostly our kiddos). The break is always good, but the hugs and screams of glee upon returning are even better.

Have a great time, Ali! I looked over the BLISS event and it is surely something I would have loved to attend- had it been on this side of the country!! LOL
Take care.

Don't just love Anna Quindlen...she can express in such poetic words the way we all feel. I was priviledged to meet her about a month ago when she was promoting her latest book, EVERY LAST ONE. I now have a signed copy. And she speaks just like she writes. Enjoy your weekend.

I was watching the morning news this weekend, I think it was Saturday and they showed a photo book of your family! They were doing a segment on Fathers Day gifts. One of the suggestions was a photo book and they one they picked up and showed was one with your pictures in it! I just wanted to post and tell you in case you didn't know.

Oh cool! I bet it was from Shutterfly - was it a local news program or national?

It was the national news, one of the morning shows. I don't know which one though sorry. I was in a hotel room flipping through channels.
