That In-Between Place
Tags:We are settling back in to life at home. Laundry. Grocery shopping (I can't wait to pick up some watermelon at the store this morning). Work lists. Exercise (that sprint triathlon is quickly approaching). Summer school for Simon. Neighbor kids. Sprinklers.
Right now I'm in that crazy in-between place: between the pace we were living in Italy & the pace of home and work and daily schedules; between being on vacation with very little access to the internet world to being back home in front of my computer; between this time zone and that one; between remembering what I was working on when we left and feeling like I am seeing all these piles in my office for the first time; between being thankful for so much time spent all together and wanting some space.
Before we left on our trip, and even during the trip, I spent a bunch
of time thinking about how I wanted to document this adventure. I've
still not decided exactly how I want to proceed, but I've got a great
collection of photos and lots of ticket stubs, train passes, etc that I
am looking forward to bringing together into a cohesive story.
Now
that we are home I'm excited about going back through the photos and
seeing what themes emerge. So far I am seeing themes like transportation, togetherness, adventures, food & drink, etc.
Here's to embracing the in-between stages and storytelling preparations.
Cathy Zielske's fabulous class Me: The Abridged Version will be re-run at Big Picture Scrapbooking this September. Registration is now open for this month long class that focuses on telling stories of your life from A to Z. This is one of those albums that is on my list of one's I would really love to make.

It's so nice to see your family again. I'm sure whatever ideas you have for your new vacation pictures will be great and I can't wait to see them. We will be heading out on vacation soon and I know that first couple weeks back are kinda tough so hang in there and relax and enjoy the process of being "home" again.

Can't wait to see what you do with your Italy pics! I have so many pictures, cds and ephemera from my trip I haven't even begun to scrap them and it's been five years. EVERYWHERE you look in Italy is a photo op :-)

I am so looking forward to seeing how you bring together those photos and memorabilia from your trip. My Europe album from several years ago just used pics, and I still have the stuff left. Since we taken a couple of trips, including one to the US just this month, and each time I collect all those bits and pieces. I've been seeking inspiration for pulling it together with pics and I'm sure you'll offer just that!
