Backyard Superheros + Updates
Tags:Backyard superheros were in full-force this weekend.
Blankets as capes held together with chip-bag clips.
Him. Captain Pickles.
Her. Mrs. Pickles.
Him wanting her to play. Her having other ideas.
And so it goes with two.
In certain moments one desperately wants to play with the other and then, in the very next moment, wants absolutely nothing to do with them. The result is disappointment and frustration and whining and tears and Mama's call to "take a break" for a bit.
The in-between is filled with tenderness, belly laughs, and peeks at the future and makes it all worthwhile.
We're all doing quite a bit of navigation these days. Finding our places in this new space, fumbling in the dark in an unfamiliar hallway, figuring out what drawer makes the most sense for the silverware, getting ready for the change of seasons, etc.
It's all part of the journey. And we can all use a little help from superheros now and then.
A big change to this site is coming soon. I'd hoped to have it up for you today and a few of you might have caught a glimpse of it this past weekend as some testing was done. There's a few bugs to work out before taking it completely live. I'm excited for this transformation.
To celebrate the redesign I'll be conducting another Really Big Giveaway. If your business is interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities such as this please email me for additional information.

Precious children. My two youngest grandchildren are the same way. Tanner will play with his little sister if no one else is around. She is very vocal when she doesn't get her way and we have to put them in time out occasionally. It is so funny to listen when they are playing make believe. It is amazing what they can come up with. Hope all goes well with the new site and with your new home.

Thank you for sharing your pictures! Your two kiddos remind me of my own two and Anna reminds me of my Emily as a baby! When mine were littel "Rollie Polly Ollie"was big on Playhouse Disney and my son would always put a mini colander on my daughter's head to make her a "bot". I still have the pics! It's so nice to remember those days on a day one is headed to 6th grade and the little one to 2nd! Good luck with your new digs! How exciting!

Oh, I did catch the new site but didn't realize it had gone away until you said something. Not the most observant sometimes!
Many blessings to you and your family in your new home! The outdoor space looks simply wonderful.

Awesome exploring with Captain and Mrs Pickles!!! I love it when my kids play like we used to play, no xbox or wii, etc, just our imaginations and few good props! Love it!!!

What a wonderful post today! I am a grandmother now of a 3 y.o. but your words evoked memories of when her daddy and his brother played superheros. I immediately remembered them in cowboys boots, shorts and a towel cape! Oh, how quickly 35 years go by!

Oh...the capes. Brings back such bittersweet memories. My middle child "thought" he WAS Batman for several years. The black cape never never left his back, playing, sleeping, riding his bike, all the time. I still have it. He is now nearly 20yrs. old:) Thanks for sharing those adorable kids. I did get a glimse of your new site. YUMMM! Waiting to see it all up and live. Thanks Ali.

Thanks for sharing these - it brought back a lot of memories. My boys put "capes" on and are characters from Star Wars - the memories they're making will be priceless.

Why is it that the BEST toys are always homemade and cheap? Like your capes or the box from a new appliance (well the fridge wasn't cheap)! A fort made from moving boxes keeps them busy and giggling for hours.
Have a great week.
