For me, the correspondence of Christmas is a joy. Pouring lots of love into handmade cards destined for friends far, far away. Sending and receiving cards and letters that shed little pockets of light on lives lived around the world. Opening an envelope with stamps from another shore. Smiling over this year's family portrait and seeing how the kids have grown. Holding a real letter and savouring its contents. Words. Memories. Friendship. Love. Infused in these pieces of paper we exchange. Intimate. Tangible. Treasured.

I look forward to that time on Christmas Day , after dinner, after the gifts are unwrapped and time seems to slow down and I can really enjoy the time with my family.

I am looking forward to spending time with my son, my mom and my good friends. I have a very small family and they are scattered all over, so we don't see each other often. That can make the holidays depressing, but I have great friends around and we all have kids now, so the holidays have a lot more meaning and are a lot of fun!!

This year I am looking forward to our first Disney Cruise right before Cmas. Our family really needs a vacation.
I am most looking forward to my two-year old's reaction to the lights, decorations, food, presents, etc. I can't wait to experience it through his eyes, and see the excitement on his face.
