December Daily 2010 | Day Twenty
Tags:Welcome to Day Twenty!
For any of you who have made it this far, nice work.
I know this is a challenging project even when you work to make it really simple. There are tons of people that finish at the end of the month or at other times during the year when the time is right. The key for this (and any other project) is making some time be the right time.
There are also many people who don't finish. I hope, if you are one of those people, that you feel absolutely NO GUILT and that whatever memories you were able to document will bring you or someone you know joy in the future. Sometimes it's just not the right time, circumstance, etc., for a project.
WHITE CIRCLE PAPER UPDATE : If you are still on the lookout for the white paper I used on the cover of my book this year, here's some available through Amazon: Mulberry Whimzy Paper- Beehive 25x37 Inch Sheet (special thanks to Susan at Catslife Press Rubber Stamps for emailing me that link).
To photograph our tree like this I followed these instructions from Autumn at Write.Click.Scrapbook. The Red Dots Rectangle Label is from Paper Source. The gold pen is from Faber-Castell's new craft line which will be debuting at the big Craft & Hobby Show in January.
Next to the tree is a photobooth strip that Chris came home with the other day. Love.
On the back of the photobooth strip is another sweet little tree that Simon drew.
And today I was the lucky recipient of a card from him.
The other part of the Red Dots Rectangle Label from page one is adhered in the bottom area. Just a bit of stitching added for good measure. I think the stitching could be one of my favorite things this year.
SUPPLIES : Ali Edwards 2010 6×8 December Daily overlays; Jenni Bowlin Christmas Printed Tickets; Hamby Red Vintage Plaid (looks like there’s no more red, but other colors are available); Jenni Bowlin Red Kindergarten Alphabet Rub Ons; Paper Source Red Dots Rectangle Label

Everyday I love your new page more then the last page. Your album really is beautiful, heartfelt, sweet, just with your special little touches. My favorite is your stitiching and how you've been writing/outlining your photos. How sweet of Simon to make this card and to draw on the back of the photo strip, he is such a sweet boy. Love the twinkling lights on the tree, will have to try this for myself. I'm loving my tree more this year then any other, maybe because of this DD album.
I'm excited my mom told me she has my old typewriter in her attic and will hunt for it so I can have it, hooray!! Have a happy Tuesday everybody.

Thanks for the kind words for those who are behind in this project. I am taking the pictures, saving bits and pieces, and keeping notes of the daily events. But I only have up to DEC 3rd complete. Life happens. I am hoping to get my book complete by January. Thank goodness for Picture the Holidays, as that is the reason that I have the great photos and my camera nearby.
Your project is inspiring. It is beautiful.

Lovely bokeh in the photo! And a lovely letter from Simon!
My son is learning to write, and I was also lucky to receive such a lovely card with his first written "Merry Christmas" ever. And he was so happy to have been written them. It is these little things that mean so much.
Btw. the Mr. Linky seems not to work.

I love that Simon doesnt cross out his mistakes. My girl (7&3/4) does cross out & then gets very upset when her work gets messy. I'm up to day 6 (which took me way to long to do that one page but I had to put secret stuff in & finally found a way to do it) I am pleased with my progress, I have notes & photos for the rest of the days & when my husband is on holidays I will get time to finish. I know that even if I just print out my iPhone notes & stick them in we will love looking back on this book. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dear Ali!
I wondered... is there anyway you oculd create a page for the 1st of january? We celebrate new year as others celebrate christmas so all the presents are opened on the morning of the 1st of Jan and it's somehow also feels like "THE END" ... or may be you simply have a much better idea how to capture the 1st of Jan (rather then make it blend in into the rest of the journal)?
Thanks
Anastasia

I'm slowly getting there. No kids today so hoping to collect more photos later and do a bit more.
I managed to get 'Magic lights' yesterday too: http://theteacherspett.blogspot.com/2010/12/magic-lights.html
Thanks for that link.

oh my goodness, that little card from Simon is almost too much!! It's so adorable! My heart melted!! I can't wait for my kids to be able to write!
I really wish we had photo booths here in Australia, it's a travesty!! They make such great keepsakes.
I agree with the comment above--I love each page you do more and more Ali!! Thanks' SO much for the inspiration!!

You could simulate the same photo booth effect, Linda, by taking a series of pics and then using Photoshop or some other photo editing software. Make a document the size of a photostrip that you want and drag and drop your pictures in. Resize your pics to fit the template you have created. If you want the white borders around your photo strip, make sure you use a white "background" when setting up your document. Be sure to save and print out at 300dpi.HTH. Maybe Ali could do a tutorial on this in the future? ;-)

Aaaw, that sweet, sweet note from Simon melts my heart. I love that you have his artwork and handwriting preserved forever now. I wish I could do that. My "baby" is 20! I can't go back and I hate that part.

You have amazing journaling and are very good at telling a story each day. I would like to be able to add more journaling to my pages but do not always feel like I'am very good at writing. is this something that has come to you naturally or skill that you have learned over the years. I was wondering if you have any wrinting tips on how to journal or share my stories better?

Jeanal, if you can afford it, I highly recommend taking Ali's Y&T class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. It's worth every dollar and helps one write/tell a complete and meaningful story.

Love it, my friend. :)
I have fallen behind on completing the pages, but I have kept up with journaling a story each day. So it should be fairly simple to pull it all together at the end of the month...

So cute that Simon draws boxes to contain his art like you! I can and can't wait until my son is big enough for notes. :)
