Anna's First Haircut
Tags:Dear Sweet Anna Girl,
On Sunday morning I took you to one of those local hair places for your very first haircut. We had just a bit of time before heading to the pool for our Sunday swim so I crossed my fingers that there wouldn't be much of a wait.
I asked you if you wanted to go get your haircut and the first thing you asked was, "Simon go?"
The second thing you said when I asked you again was "yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh" in that sweet drawn-out, excited way you say it.
You've watched Simon and Daddy get their haircuts a few times in the past since they often go together. It's definitely not on Simon's list of favorite things to do but you were genuinely ready to go. Simon and Daddy stayed home (we came back to the house and all went swimming together after your haircut adventure) and you and I headed out together.
We arrived to find the hair place empty except for two workers. We were able to sit right down. You sat on my lap and the stylist put a cape on me and then a cape on you. You sat calmly, let her do a few little snips around the back and in the front for some bangs, and that was it. A simple "bob" cut with bangs - perfect for a very active little girl.
She asked if you wanted a balloon and you said, "purple."
I love that now you don't have hair in your eyes all the time (and aren't pulling out the clips that we'd put in your hair to keep it out of your eyes). You might not be able to have a "pony" for a bit but you know what? It grows back.
We came home and you ran inside to show Simon and Daddy you new cut. "Nice haircut Anna!" was your brother's enthusiastic response.
Love you Anna!

Cute as a bug in a rug! I love that gaping open mouth look. She is such a cutie pie, Ali. You are a blessed lady with your sweet children.

. . .and I love how she's holding a Cabbage Patch kid and Elmo - so sweet. I giggled when I saw the after photo :)

My little girl's hair is in her eyes and my mom keeps hinting heavily that she needs a haircut. I just can't seem to do it. I'm feeling inspired by your post, but I don't know that the inspiration will get me all the way to Hairmasters with my baby girl (no baby, really, she's two and a half).

I'm in the same boat! My little girl is 2 and a half and I just haven't gotten up the nerve to do it. Although I am getting tired of the hair in her eyes or the clips being pulled out.

My daughter (2 and a half years) had the identitical problem - hair in the eyes - and the identical haircut. I love it! Simple each and mostly out of the eyes. You look gorgeous Anna.

I have three grown sons and never had a daughter, but I am blessed with three granddaughters, 22, 12, and 2. Erica just had her first haircut about a month ago. I love seeing photos of Lucy, Anna and Gabrielle, because they are so close in age to my sweetie. Thanks for sharing!

I just love that "after" shot - the haircut is so cute but her expression is just priceless! I love it! :) My son is going to be 3 at the end of this month and I have to admit that I haven't been able to take him for his first hair cut yet... he has these gorgeous curls and I just know that once they're cut off, they're gone forever! It's probably about time though, he's been mistaken for a girl a couple of times now... I just don't want my baby to grow up!

I did the same thing with my youngest son. He has red hair and when he was small, his hair was very curly. He was the same age by the time he got his first haircut. You bring back memories!

So cute! I remember those first haircuts. Always more traumatic for me than for the kids!

She is an absolutely darling little girl. Love the expression on her face. Hair cuts are not my son's favorite either. He likes his hair *down* which means long. Which also means tangles and *rats nest* hair. All of which he is fine with but I am not. He let me trim it last night and it's so much better.

Love that expression in the after photo...she is beautiful! My little girl is 3-1/2, with hair down to her tushie, and I can't bear to cut it.

She is adorable! A perfect cut for her fun little personality. It is amazing how much more grown-up little ones seem when they get a haircut. We spent Saturday doing the same thing, so I had a huge smile on my face when I saw this post!
