Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.
The newest addition is a Framed Gallery Wrap Canvas from ColorInc. As one of my sponsors they kindly sent me this new product to review and want me to give one away as well (with your own photo of course).
Here's what they have to say about this new product:
Love the sleek modern style of a Gallery Wrapped Canvas? Now you can add a frame! Our Gallery Wrapped Canvas Frames will give you that same modern and edgy look you've wanted but with a touch of traditional style to give you a unique shadow box feel to add to any home, work, or studio wall space!
These ready to hang Gallery Wrapped Canvases come with a 2 1/8'' deep smooth black laminate frame. With a 1/2'' floating space between your canvas and frame, each of our hand wrapped canvas prints will be permanently attached with the finest attention to detail. Each piece will arrive properly finished with a wire hanger, bumpers and Tyvek® backing. A true first class upgrade to your studio or home!
These Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvases are really, really nice. I didn't realize when I was ordering it that there's a space between the frame and the wrapped canvas but when I opened the package here at home I was really pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely consider ordering another one.

I have been working on a wall in our basement that has a vinyl that says, "Make everyday a Masterpiece" and I am included both frames filled with pictures and empty ones with cork and metal to hang my kids' 'masterpieces' such as: drawings, love notes, silly words, sayings, etc.

What a fabulous giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win! I just ordered some more enlargements to frame in our hallway. Unfortunately, there's not much natural light where I'm going to put them so I'm thinking of trying to find out what lighting to purchase to showcase them as well. We have an old farm house so most of our stuff is framed in wood frames now with a few modern frames thrown in for good measure.

I am currently building a photo wall in our living room. We take a ton of pictures of our kids. I set two goals: the first, to get the pictures off the computer and onto the walls. The second, to get more family shots of the 4 of us together. I've been making slow progress the past couple weeks but I am so excited to see this come together.

We're in a temporary living situation right now (between homes), but I've still hung pictures of us and family members. It helps to make our current location feel like home. Most of our photos are in black frames (some with white mattes). I've ordered a few canvases, but wanted to wait until we get into our new place so I know how much space I have. I love the framed canvas! Thank you for the chance to win!

I have a lot of shelves up, so I live with my photos in frames on these shelves. Love the inspiration you've provided with this post! Now I'm thinking I need an eclectic grouping of photos on the wall! Thanks so much for the chance to get this project started!

I love how you've displayed your photo's and I love that you've shared it with us!!! How I live with my photo's... I take a ton of pictures, {and I do scrapbook}but don't always think my pics look very good! And I had a few up on walls here and there, BUT that all changed!! Last year my son had his senior pictures taken and his graduation open house. I made some funky art pieces for the open house. After the open house I couldn't decide what I should do with them, and my daughter is graduating this year so I knew there would be lots of stuff to match. SOOOO... for Christmas we had our first family portrait taken since the early 90's. My son and husband are in a rock band together and they also ride motocross together. I hired a friend to take pics of them. And some of my daughter playing volleyball. I felt that something needed to be done to HONOR the tight bond our family has. I started to paint the entire main level of our house to match the pictures and projects!!! I am loving how it's working out. At first I was worried about the fact that people would find my house a bit strange with ALL those pics of my family, but it's my house. My family is MY art. I don't care what people think. I LOVE IT!!! I am so happy I decided to do this!!

Love your photos all over! I really should do more of that. I even have some shots we had taken 2 (maybe 3?) years ago that I fully intended to do that with, and never did it. We have added to our family since then! Most of my own shots don't feel gallery quality, but I have some photos I love that I could use. Thaks for the chance to win!

I was waiting for this post! I fell in love with the standouts when you briefly mentioned them in another post. Like so many, I need to get the photos off the hard drive and onto the wall. I also love the grouping of white frames you did. By grouping them together it makes quite an impact. Are those 4x6 prints in that grouping?
As always thanks for the great post and the awesome giveaway!

Love seeing all your collections! I have a collection of framed photos going up the staircase but would love to expand a collection in our master bedroom. Have always gone with black frames/white mats, but I'm now very inspired to try a canvas. Thanks for all your inspiration!

(Obviously I'm having trouble doing this)!
in the dining room which doubles as a library we have photos in silver frames on the bookshelves. Silver because I collect silver mustard pots and sugar casters which are shelved between the books and the light then seems to bounce around.
in the hall there's a gallery wall of grandchildren in various sporting activities with white mats, black frames
in the kitchen there's a collage of the family in Switzerland and another collage of the family in Ireland, black frames
in the guest bathroom there are photos from the turn of the last century (1900)
in our bathroom there are a few favorite photos of children taking baths from various times
I love photographs. My husband is a veterinarian and I decorated the soft yellow walls of the clinic with b/w photos of animals, some clients, some not.

Love your photo walls! I, too, have my photos all over the walls in my home. Mine are mostly black frames, but I love the look of your canvases. I want to try that next! Winning this giveaway would be a perfect start! Thanks for the chance.

Most of our pictures lives in our computers. We have a few family pictures and a few of the kids are randomly hung on walls. Since we don't own our home and all the walls have wood veneer, we always have to think twice before hammering a nail in them. I really love your collections. Would love to be able to do that some day.

I love how you've used photos in your home. I put out my current scrapbooks as coffee table books so that they get seen often, and we have a digital photo frame that shows off pics too in the kitchen!

I love art but now that I have kids I have noticed that I seem to be packing it away in exchange for photos of my babies! I love to turn a corner and see their smiles. It makes my day! Love the wrapped canvas frame it really sets it off!

Friends often tease me about how many photos of 'us' I have all over the house (and I don't have nearly as many as you!!). We have a ledge going up the stairs, and have various sized ornamental frames (all gold-leafed) that house heritage photos. That is one of my favourite photo collections. But, I love seeing our family together on every wall of my house - it's a reminder to me of what is really important everywhere I look!

I'm still learning to live with my photos. I have older photos... from our engagement, wedding, etc, but I need to get more creative with current photos, and photos that I love!

I must admit I've been really bad at 'living with my photos', I am so behind in my scrapbooks, however I recently dug out a digital photo frame we won and put the memory card from my camera in it and are enjoying the pictures that way. My 6 year old son loves it, as they are pictures from our recent vacation so he loves seeing his picture appear in the frame.
