Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.
The newest addition is a Framed Gallery Wrap Canvas from ColorInc. As one of my sponsors they kindly sent me this new product to review and want me to give one away as well (with your own photo of course).
Here's what they have to say about this new product:
Love the sleek modern style of a Gallery Wrapped Canvas? Now you can add a frame! Our Gallery Wrapped Canvas Frames will give you that same modern and edgy look you've wanted but with a touch of traditional style to give you a unique shadow box feel to add to any home, work, or studio wall space!
These ready to hang Gallery Wrapped Canvases come with a 2 1/8'' deep smooth black laminate frame. With a 1/2'' floating space between your canvas and frame, each of our hand wrapped canvas prints will be permanently attached with the finest attention to detail. Each piece will arrive properly finished with a wire hanger, bumpers and Tyvek® backing. A true first class upgrade to your studio or home!
These Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvases are really, really nice. I didn't realize when I was ordering it that there's a space between the frame and the wrapped canvas but when I opened the package here at home I was really pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely consider ordering another one.

Right now all the pictures that I have out are at least a few years old. Over the summer when I'm off work I really want to update the pictures and replace some of the old ones with newer pictures. Thank you for this giveaway.

In our entry way I have precious family photos framed and set out for everyone to see. You've inspired me to change that up more often and to make use of the walls in the hall!

I prefer family photos to other types of art because photos are meaningful and usually more affordable. I recently printed 11x14 enlargements and then had them heat mounted onto black foam board at my local frame shop. I would love to try standout and gallery wrapped prints and the prices at ColorInc seem very reasonable. You cannot dispute the quality of a photo printed at a pro lab.

I wish I lived with my photos more! I love seeing all of your photo walls! Most of our framed photos are black with a white mat, but now I am really embracing the different shapes and sizes!

I use my photos as the basis for mixed media collage art and then hang the finished pieces about my house. Would love to start collecting gallery wraps, too.

Hey Ali, love your photo displays!!! I've been inspired. I only have photos in traditional frames sitting on "the fireplace, end tables, dressers, kitchen counter etc." I've always thought I should blow up some photos for the wall, but just haven't been brave enough. I've always thought it would be hard/difficult to know how to group photos. You've given me some ideas and I feel a little braver to attempt such a project now after seeing some of yours. Would love to win your "giveaway picture" to start the process. Thanks, love your blog.

I have a wall of photos going up our stairway that is all about my son (he's 7). I love those photos and smile each time I pass. We also have a 'family photo' wall in our living room with several prints of the 3 of us. And then I have framed photos propped up or on the walls with other groupings throughout the house. I love living with our memories right in front of our eyes!!

I love having pictures of my famiy around me throughout my house. I have one shelf on the bookcase dedicated to framed pictures of loved family members who are no longer with us. My current "favorites" go on the fridge and change out with the seasons.

Most of my photos are in scrapbooks that fill the shelves in our living room. I have been better about hanging photos even though they are not PROFESSIONAL. I am embarrassed to say that I have been buying cool frames that I like and hanging them up around the house with the stock photo in them. I really need to pick my photos and have them printed. LOL My poor little Gracie (our youngest, she always looks at the one collage frame and points out that she is not in it!) YIKES! thanks for the inspiration. This giveaway is a win, win, for me. Even if I don't get the prize, I did get the inspiration to fill my frames! :)

I'm not familiar with Color Inc. but I use Persnickety Prints quite often. I have tons of pictures around the house--some in individual frames, others in gallery layouts. I would love to have a canvas one among them!

We have some canvas prints, printed 8x10, photobooks, framed pics. I take more than gets printed. I guess that's everyone's story. I'd love to try out Color Inc products.

I am just starting to place pictures around the house. Last year I printed out and displayed pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes from their first Halloween on. I did the same for the family Christmas picture we mail out with our Christmas card. These pictures are part of my holiday decorations, and only come out at the appropriate holiday. They were SUPER well received by the kids! :)

Now our house is almost ready I started displaying photos on the bedrooms. I want each room to have a little collection of favorite photos, quite similar to what you have in your room with a mix of frames, b&w pictures and different sizes too.

I'm trying to figure out how to live with them -
I LOVE pictures - but it is hard to get out of the black frame/white mat rut. Love the groupings!

I don't live with my photos enough. I have my scrapbooks and I do look at those, but I need to get more nice prints and hang them around the house.
