GIVEAWAY |One person will receive a signed copy of Momma Zen and one person will receive a signed copy of Hand Wash Cold from Karen Maezen Miller.
About Hand Wash Cold | It’s easy to think that meaning, fulfillment, and bliss are “out there,” somewhere outside of our daily routine. But in this playful yet profound reflection on awareness, the compelling voice of a self-described errant wife and delinquent mother reveals the happiness at the bottom of the laundry basket, the love in the kitchen sink, and the peace possible in one’s own backyard. Readers follow the author through youthful ambition and self-absorption, beyond a broken marriage, and into the steady calm of a so-called ordinary life. Household chores and caregiving tasks become opportunities for self-examination, lessons in relationship, and liberating moments of selflessness. Miller shows that with attention, it’s the little things — even the unexpected, unpleasant, and unwanted things — that count.
About Momma Zen | The daily challenges of parenthood can become the most profound spiritual journey of our lives. Combining humor, honesty and plainspoken advice, Momma Zen distills the doubts and frustrations of early motherhood into vignettes of Zen wisdom. This compelling and wise memoir follows the timeline of early motherhood from pregnancy through toddlerhood. Miller takes readers on a transformative journey, charting a mother’s growth beyond naive expectations and disorientation to finding fulfillment in ordinary tasks, developing greater self-awareness and self-acceptance – to the gradual discovery of “maternal bliss,” a state of abiding happiness and ease available to us all.

Awesome giveaways Ali! Thank you.
It seems everything you've recommended this week from blogs to books has been just what I've needed. A Saturday that should be a family day and where is my hubby? Sadly, working! Going back to work from my maternity leave in just 2 weeks, the stresses of how to drop off a 7 yr old at school, a 2 yr old at preschool and 1 yr old twins to daycare, AND how to arrive to work on time (with clean clothes on and having a shower) all have been weighing on my mind. And that doesn't cover all the everyday "stuff" that needs to get done. And, since I'm not fortunate enough to have a maid or a cook :) (just me), to say I'm feeling overwhelmed these days is an understatement.
I do carve out a few moments each and every day to check your blog - your piece of the web is one I just love. Giveaways or not. I appreciate your openness and honesty and unique way of making your blog such a positive place, without that "oh, and by the way, did I tell you I'm superwoman, yes SUPERWOMAN" kind of way. I don't know how you do it, but you do.
Keep up the awesome work you do, Ali! Your blog is one of super quality and these days with SO many women operating blogs, yours is really the standout.
Have a great weekend!
