The Weekend Without Photos

Tags:

My camera took the weekend off - for no particular reason other than I just didn't feel like taking pictures (which usually means I'm focused on other things).

Things I want to remember:

  • Having friends over for dinner on Saturday night. Anna yelling "friends, friends, friends" as they pulled into our driveway. Being so happy to see their son looking bright eyed and smiling (he also has special needs of a different sort). Eating awesome guacamole (via Martha's Speedy Guacamole).

  • Simon playing with a measuring tape in the kitchen and measuring everything in sight.

  • Taking Anna to Target and listening to her tell me to "put it in the cart" every time she saw something she wanted - which was often.

  • Anna going from silly-happy-2-year-old to clingy-whiny-2-year-old in the blink of an eye. Man she was a handful this weekend.

  • Chris and Simon going to the golf course that is right around the corner from our house and putting and hitting balls. I am ever so hopeful that this may be a sport he enjoys (without holding my breath). Also driving home with Anna from Target and seeing the two of them kicking the soccer ball in the cul-de-sac.

  • Cooking lasagna in the crockpot for Sunday night dinner. Recipe via Stephanie at Crockpot 365. Simon eating his whole portion (hooray). Anna was super happy to eat the simple salad.

  • Making at least three trips to the grocery store over the course of the weekend (I'm usually a once-a-week visitor).

  • Chris and I both falling asleep on the couch right after starting a movie on Saturday night after our friends went home.

  • Chris and the kids parroting the phrase "relax, man, relax" over and over again.

  • Remembering how efficient and productive I become at cleaning when we have people coming over for dinner.

  • Wanting to have people come over more often. Loving the chaos, the preparation, the life that comes from connecting with others around the kitchen table.

  • Simon reminding me, again, that he does not have school on Monday.
