LAYOUT IDEA | Draw and stitch an enlarged number and stamp your journaling around that number.
I've been thinking a lot about scale lately - enlarged numbers, letters, photos, etc. and simply going bigger.
It might have been sparked by that digital layered template book I created a few months back. You can check that out here: Love You Because Layered Template Book. Here's another recent layout with a full 12x12 photo background.
It's also been awhile since I did a page about just Chris and me. It was time.
Here's the 8.5x11 layout:
Four random instax photos from a recent date night + a bit of pattern paper + a large stitched number 2 + stamped journaling.
Here's a look at how I created the large stitched number:
1. Sketch a number with pencil (will be erased after stitching). Freaking out about free-drawing a number? Open up Photoshop or Word, make a number really big, print it out, cut it out and use it as a template/stencil to draw around. Easy.
2. With a sewing machine, or by hand, stitch around the outside of the number so you end up with an outline. Mine didn't turn out perfect but it was good enough.
I found it easier to just do one line, stop, make sure the needle was down through the paper, lift up the presser foot, turn the paper, and then keep going. After I finished stitching I erased the pencil lines.
3. Stamp your journaling around the number. I used a couple different red colors and one orange for the ink. While I was stamping the journaling I tried to keep my sentiments to short sentences/phrases.
Along the bottom of the photos I added a sheer ribbon (I think this isn't made anymore) from Maya Road and a word stick from Tim Holtz.

Awesome stuff, and nice quick idea for SB day today. Over Easter, I photographed a perfume's packaging as SB idea: it had an oversized lower case "a" ... Thought it would be lovely to do for each of my girls' initials (k, k, + f)
:)
Thanks, as always, Ali, for sharing your world with us. xx
have you done them yet? can we see pics as hard trying to imagine how/what, please

Your shots with the husband are fab - you both seem to fit like a puzzle, you know. I could use a shot with husband. The big number is fab (though I am doing PL).

Ali, I get you more and more. After getting through the "scrapbook on the road" and this LO it just finally clicked. All the things you talk about...words, photos and a few items for your page...This LO is so "not perfect". Don't get me wrong, I totally love it. But the 2 is so unique and I love the stamping...because its human. Its not perfect. How the stamping goes into the two and sometimes out of the page. Also the pictures are not perfect. Its just the two of you in the car enjoying your night without kids.
LOVE IT and THANK YOU.
I get it now. :)

This is an awesome layout! I just have to mention though, that when I looked at the photo's I saw the grown up versions of your kiddo's. They are almost exact replica's of you two!
