New Photobooks Available Through Shutterfly | Top 10 and Words Of Faith

I've got two new photobooks now available through Shutterfly: Words Of Faith and Top 10.

Shutterfly has made some changes to their photobooks and they are are now offering what's called Custom Path. The biggest change is that they've given you more design flexibility if you want it - and if you'd like to just drop in your photos, add your journaling and print you can still do that too.

The two books I created for them are similar to ones that are available as layered template packages through Designer Digitals - check out Love You Because and Rejoice. I know many of you out there are not interested in learning about using layered templates in Photoshop so this may be a great option for you if you're still interested in having these sort of themed photobooks.

The process for creating an album via Shutterfly is simple.

Once you see the photobook you've chosen click "apply" on the top right corner. Select the My Photos tab and upload photos to Shutterfly from your computer. Select the photos you'd like to use in this project and click "add to photo book." The next screen will show you the cover page where you can then begin adding your photos by dragging them from the bin along the bottom onto the gray areas of the book. Add your journaling. Click save. Order a book.

You'll see as you move your mouse around that you have the ability to delete elements by clicking on the "blue x." Along the left side of the window you'll see embellishment and background tabs. Clicking on those will show you additional word art and paper background options.

These two books are set up so you can simply upload your photos into the photo spots, adjust the journaling and be done. But, if you want more control you are able to move things around with their online tools and swap out one word art or embellishment for something different.

Here's a look at a spread from the Top 10 book before photos have been added:

And here's a look at Words of Faith:

Here's a few images of my Top 10 book in progress (those little yellow boxes are not on the images when printed - that's where my mouse was when I took the screenshot):

And here's a few pages of my Words Of Faith book in progress:

I'll be finishing up my sample books and ordering them next week. Enjoy!

Hi Ali love these but are you going to offer these later on down the track as a designer digital template set. I would rather that than shutterfly as I am in Australia and the shipping costs probably kill. Thanks!

I will not be selling these same versions through Designer Digitals as they were made exclusively for Shutterfly.

Ali did indicate that similar templates are available with Designer Digitals...

Thanks Alison yeah I know about the ones available and have seen those templates on DD but they are different and don't have the added bits ie this story box and Hello Life bits and pieces.
These new ones are really nice and I like this layout better then the exisiting ones available. Thanks

I am wondering if you will be selling (at DD) sets of the papers you included in these albums. It looks like the chevron papers may be the same as a former paper pack, but I really like some of the others...especially the white linen looking one.

I used Shutterfly's Custom Path to make my "Week in the Life" book. It was my first digitally designed and printed book. My book arrived yesterday and it looks great, although I need to work on my photography. It was easier to use than I thought and there are so many page layout options and I liked that you could layer text. My book has some of their layouts and some of mine own.
Here is a link to a blog I just started where I talk about my process: http://nicoleandnatalie.typepad.com/nicole-natalies-blog/ Here is a link to my Shutterfly Custom Path book: http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=5cb68e6e90662e9c&sid=1AZM3DFw4Ys3LA

Ali - thank you so much!! I am planning a book for my son's 10th birthday with this kind of format and this is perfect and perfectly timed. Photos are almost all collected, and I am on my way.

It depends on the size of your book, the type of cover you get, and the number of pages. For example, an 8x8 album with 20 pages starts at $15.99, a 12x12 is around $38. You can always get coupons for Shutterfly books (sometimes 20-40%) and if you order one, you'll most likely get coupons in your email for additional books. For example, I recently got a coupon code for a free 8x8 album, I just had to pay the shipping (and I picked Ali's Top 10 template!).

I am expecting my Top 10 photobook to arrive today! I received a free 8x8 album coupon for ordering a different photo book last week and was so excited to see your template (I knew it was an Ali Edwards template right away!!). I'm excited to get it! I also have the Everyday Life book that you had designed! =D I just love the professional look of the bound books (rather than the homemade look of my scrapbooks...not that I mind that either, lol). Thanks for sharing your skills and talent!!

I love that you have such a discernible style! I was making a photo book with shutterfly earlier this week, and as soon as I saw the Top 10 template I knew that you had designed it! That template didn't fit with the project I was doing, but I want to go back and use it for another project. I think it would make a great Christmas gift. (yes, I am already thinking about gifts!) : )

I know you had another Shutterfly exclusive book (can't remember the name). Is it still available? I haven't been able to locate it.

Leeann I was wondering the same thing. When Sutterfly went to this format the first thing I did was look for Ali's original design for them. I would love to know it is still available.

It looks like you can still make that album by clicking on this link: http://www.shutterfly.com/gallery/post/start.sfly?postId=/gallery/1/post/GMGDFg1Zt2LVyybg6Te60O. On that page you need to click the orange button that says "make one like this." That's the only way I've been able to figure out how to make one.

Right now it sounds like Movable Type is the preferred blogging platform out there right now.
(from what I've read) Is that what you are using on your blog?
