December Daily™ 2011 | Studio Calico Kit
Tags:I'm very excited to announce that I've teamed up with Studio Calico and they will be offering a December Daily™ kit for 2011.
Similar to past years when a kit has been available, I'll be using pieces of the kit in addition to supplementing with products I have here at home and creating printable/digital products available through Designer Digitals. You do not need to have the kit to participate in December Daily™. There have been requests in years past for a kit option so I'm excited to be partnering with Studio Calico to fill that need for those who are interested in purchasing a group of supplies from one retailer.
The thing I'm most excited about this year is that the Studio Calico kit will include an album. (It's actually a jumping up and down kind of excitement.)
Many of you who played along last year (or in past years) have known the struggle of finding/making an album to fit all the pages we create over the 25 days (and even more than 25 for some of you). American Crafts has created an exclusive chipboard binder album that is 3 inches thick - perfect for holding all the good stuff that goes into this album.
The binder measures 9 inches wide x 9.5 inches tall and has a 3-inch spine. Inside the album you'll find 25 page protectors that hold 8.5 x 6 inch pages. In the image above you can see the size of my 2010 album placed inside this new ring binder album.
I'm super excited to see how people decided to decorate this album. So many possibilities on the outside, the inside, and in how you choose to work with (or without) the page protectors.
I'll be updating the December Daily™ printable pages to fit these page protectors and changing the dates for 2011. My hope is to have those available through Designer Digitals either this weekend or next.
Kits will go on sale to Studio Calico subscribers on October 27th at 12:00pm EST and to non-subscribers on October 28th at 12:00am EST.
My hope is to get all my foundation pages completed this week and be ready to share with you next week. Getting all the foundation pages done in advance has always been a big part of enjoying this project during December.
Wondering what a December Daily™ is all about? Check out my December Daily™ compilation page for all the details on this annual project, including links to all my past projects in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

Looking forward to seeing what the kit contains, I completed my first DD last year, I really embraced the process. If anyone wants to see it you can find it here http://scrapbookprintables.wordpress.com/category/december-daily/
Unfortunately due to the unbelievable cost of postage from the U.S I will be improvising my kit this year but will be trying to emulate some of the aspects of this kit.
Love the anticipation xx

I did mine last year in an A5 lever arch file which has a huge spine and it easily accomodated the 30+ page inserts I created! I'm putting together something similar this year for a class as mine was so popular.

where does one find an A5 lever arch file?

Hi Ali
Will it be possible to get extra page protectors? It would be terrific if we could as like many I like to do the whole month and often do more than one page per day. Thanks.
cheers

$80....wowser. Sure wish the album was sold seperately...I really like the individuality of the DD project...don't want a kit that I know will look like others.
Oh well, I bet a lot of people will like it as a kit and will spend the bucks

So excited for the December Daily - I have done it in the past and it is great. I skipped last year due to a new baby and just felt overwhelmed, but planning on jumping in this year. I do like the idea of this kit!! I know you are talking Christmas - but are you planning on doing a Halloween mini-album this year???
Replies
Hi Michelle - you know, I need to do something with my photos from last year! Not sure if I'll do another mini or not...that's a good idea :). Need to get my December Daily started first.

If the kit goes public at SC on the 28th, does that mean we have to buy the main kit plus the december daily add-on or can we buy just the december daily add-on? I've never had a monthly kit and can't afford it right now, but was wondering how that might work? Thanks so much and I can't wait for DD. I did it last year and it was awesome!
Replies
Hi Sonja - you can just purchase the add-on.

What great news! I am so much looking forward to this one, having been a fan of you for years now and a subscriber to Studio Calico. I just love their kits. What a great collaboration!

Ali...you have such a sweet, charismatic personality...can't you charm the folks at American Craft to offer the album separately. How could they turn you down...and a ton of sales for this product??? Times are so tough for many of us, that $80+ makes this project out of reach. But it would be doable for so many more of us, if the album was available separately...kind of how Becky Higgins does it. If you could, will you go to bat for us on this one? Please =)

That kit looks awesome but my favorite part of December Daily is actually using TONS of my stash. After I make a DD, I feel so proud of myself for using up so much. I am splurging on the new October Afternoon to use in mine but just the paper, really. It's delish!

The suspense is just about killing me -- so excited to start this project. I've been doing these ever since the beginning and it is my favorite project of the entire year! Thanks for all the inspiration, Ali! Can't wait to see your foundation pages.

I am so excited about this DD kit! Being that I am not a SC kit subscriber, I am very nervous that I am going to miss out on this kit.
Ali or anyone else, do you know the stock staus of this kit? Do you know if there is sufficient quantities to meet the possible high demand of this?
Thanks!

I'm going to try this one too.... What's it like to have older kids not at home; one of whom actually works in retail and has already announced no time off; and your mother-in-law is coming -- she travels among her 5 kids so it's only once in 5 years! Maybe a page on what should we do: National Christmas tree? Where to go to Mass? A Christmas Carol at Ford's Theatre? What's showing at the Kennedy Center? Decorations at Mt Vernon? How much does she like to walk these days? fun fun fun!!

I am going to do this for the first time this year. I purchased the overlays on DD but am wondering if you are going to do new templates or will the 6 x8 ones work--I noticed the overlays are a half inch bigger and wasn't sure if it would work.
Thanks Candy
Replies
Hi Candy - I'm making up some new ones now. Technically you could stretch the 6x8 ones (I'd hide any text on the templates so as not to stretch out the word art) to make them 8.5.
