Oh that's easy - shortbread! But not just any shortbread. My Mum's shortbread. Growing up it was a sure sign that Christmas was just around the corner. My parents were killed in a car crash in '88 and the father of the family that took me in had to wait several years until I learned the recipe. (My Mum used to make him his own batch every year because he enjoyed it so much.) Once I learned, I spent several years perfecting the recipe and about 10 years ago my Dad (adopted one that is) gave his "good as your Mum's" Seal of Approval on my offering! Now it's up to me to provide that round of shortbread to him every year. It still doesn't feel like Christmas until the house smells like shortbread fresh out of the oven!!

It's hard to pick just one, but I think my favorite this time of year is the Swedish Cream dessert my mother-in-law makes as dessert on Christmas Day. I don't dare ask what's in it because it's so good (and probably a gazillion calories), I don't think I want to know... thanks for the chance!! :)

Like you tweeted yesterday - awesome giveaway. Thanks for the chance.
My favourite thing to eat during the holidays is my Dad's tomato, onion and scone bake. I believe you call scones biscuits? It's all done in a baking dish with the scone mix combining it together. He makes it once a year on Christmas day and I love that my brother really loves and looks forward to it too. I'm hoping to learn how to make it this year.

My BFF for the past 40+ years makes the best Holiday sugar cookies, complete with icing and jimmies (her husband's name, btw, is Jim!). She gave me her recipe last year and I tried to recreate them...but I think there is something in her hands that make the difference.
