If you'd like to learn more about my site check out my Welcome or About Ali pages.
Here's a look at a stamp I love from the new catalog and the one I'm using in my layout today:
Hello zig zag!
I decided to do a page that highlights some of the things I love about Anna right now.
Here's a look at my process:
I used the new Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp to create a pattern on my white cardstock with Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum and Malted Milk inks. I didn't stress about making it perfect because I knew I would be adding content on top.
I started by adding a sticker border (Sassafras for Studio Calico) along the bottom - popping it up with foam dots.
I knew I wanted the title to read "Things I love" and I hoped it would fit in that space. Chipboard letters are American Crafts Goodness by Amy Tangerine.
Photo is 4x6 and was printed with a white border.
And yes, another one of those wood flags is popping up here. I love those things.
"Beautiful" is from a set of GCD Studios Melody Ross Soul Food Collection Chipboard Stickers.
For the journaling I used one of my Awakening 4x6 overlays. I opened it in Photoshop, added my text and printed on cardstock.
Along the bottom of the overlay I added a bit of washi tape (I think that came in a Studio Calico kit), her initials in those great little Lily Bee alphabet letter stickers, and an old metal arrow (I think from 7gypsies). Love those arrows. Someone should make those again.

My favorite tradition is new last year. My kids were getting old enough to help decorate the tree. Only one broken ornament, but they had so much fun. The tree totally looks like kids did it (decorations crowding the front, their favorite home made ones front and center, messy, chaotic, crowded) and I love it! I love that they feel so much a part of it and are so proud of their tree. We did it last night and again, it put us all in the Christmas spirit. It's not about perfection...always good to remember this time of year:)

What a great stamp. There are so many things you could use it for.
My favorite holiday tradition is making Chile con Carne with fresh tortillas and tamales on Christmas Eve. We live close to Mexico and it's a more traditional Mexican holiday meal. Love it.

My favorite holiday tradition is putting a sweet potato on our tree in remembrance of the first of my DH's family to leave Germany & come to Texas. They had no money for ornaments, so "decorated" their Christmas tree w/apples & sweet potatoes.

So many traditions to choose from! One of my favorites is that my family does the "big" meal on xmas eve,,, we dress up have a "fancy" dinner with wine, appetizers, desserts... then sing Christmas carols ( way, way off key...). later we put on xmas jammies ( my kids are 29, 26, 25 and 20 ) and watch a xmas show like Charlie Brown or The Year Without a Santa Claus. Santa still comes and we look at our stockings and santa stuff first on xmas day...

I love Hero Arts! I think I have more of their stamps than any one elses.
My favorite Christmas tradition is the Advent Calendar. Even though we don't have kids, I always get one for the two of us. Dear husband thinks it's a bit hokey, but I just give him "the look." I remember growing up, having to come up with a schedule of who opened each window throughout the month between the three kids. Our were always the Nativity story, none of the cartoon ones. We were very traditional.

We pull out the ornaments that my dad painted for us each year. Sometimes we hang them up and other times we place the along the mantle. It looks like a little village of happy "things" {animals, people, etc.} and it is such a fun reminder of my childhood.
