Week In The Life 2012 | April 23-29
Tags:Happy Monday! I'm officially on Spring Break this week and as a special treat for you guys I've got a great collection of guest posts coming your way. First up today over on the Project blog is Kolette Hall.
Before I get down to the business of spring vacation I wanted to put up a quick reminder about the Week In The Life project and dates for 2012. Mark your calendar for April 23rd through April 29th.
I've been thinking a bunch about this project and going back and forth about it the last few weeks. Do I really need to do this? Do I have the time and the energy? Is this content already covered in Project Life? And then yesterday, as I looked back through my previous albums (all the way back to 2005), it was obvious to me that I will be doing this project again.
It's a lot of work. Think Project Life on steroids in terms of the details and the photos and the commitment of time.
And that is precisely why I love it and precisely why I will be doing it again.
These albums are amazing looks at our lives over the course of one week each year. They are in-depth. They document so much of the basic pieces of our existence. They show me so many things to be thankful for in my life yesterday and today. So I'm going to do it again and you can consider yourself invited.
Here's a few things I know to be true:
I will be doing 8.5x11 again. I feel like I want to mix it up somehow but I'm not sure just yet what that means. I'll be thinking about those details after spring break.
I will be making some new layered templates. These are the overlays and layered template sets I've used in the last few years: The Story Of Today Overlays, Week In The Life 8.5x11 Layered Template Album, Week In The Life Layered Template Set Volume 3. You can view the completed albums here: 2008, 2010, 2011.
I will be sharing my words and photos here on my blog again just like I have in years past.
I will most likely be incorporating Daily Sheets or coming up with a new version of that to go along with my design for this year.
I've always loved the community that has risen up around this project each year and I hope you'll choose to participate in some form. I've also always loved the creative energy that comes from seeing how people interpret the project and make it work in their own lives.

I hope you got photos and/or video of the moment you told your kids! Friends of mine surprised their two girls. They were flying to Orlando, which means an extremely early flight from here. The girls were SO confused when they were woken up! The moments when each one realized what was going on are priceless.

yippee! Finally, a week that works for me. This will be my first time doing it, so I'm super psyched. I normally work 12by12, but I think I'll also do it in 8.5by11.

I came across a great autism news story in our local paper that I thought might interest you. Here's the link

I love doing Week in the Life every year. It is so much fun to go back and review all of the routines and activities of daily life. It is funny how so many things change but yet how so many things remain the same - that's indeed what life is all about!

I'll be doing A Week in The Life - I usually do a 9x9 album - I have a bunch of old unused Heidi Swapp albums that I use for this project. I love the photos I take during a week in the life - they are good for just storing away as personal "stock" photos that I use for all sorts of other projects.

Ilona, are you Hungarian by any chance? My mother's name was Ilona and we are Hungarian. Love the name, in fact it is also my daughter's middle name.

Hi Clare, no, I'm german :-) but I know that the name is originally hungarian. I have been to Hungary once and they called me Ilonka ;-)
Really nice that your daughters middle name is Ilona!!

Me too, I'm wondering if it's not already covered by Project Life, but me too, I'll do it again...mainly because those weekly/daily/monthly projects are the ones I cherish the most once they are completed. Thanks Ali for the "engine" you are, pulling us all with you. :)

YAY! I've wanted to participate so many times, but for one reason or another it did not happen...but the moons have aligned! I've not been motivated to get started on my PL this year and think this will be a fab way to jumpstart the process.
Getting my supplies ready. Thank you for all you do, Ali!

This will be my 1st year for "WINL" and I'm excited. 2012 has been devoted to doing albums both my daughter's weddings (Fall 2010 & spring 2011), the Missouri River flooding of 2011 and a few pages for our life memories. I miss Project Life. WINL will record a glimpse of my life this year. I resigned my job effective last Friday to becoming caregiver for my parents. I'm hoping this project will help me find the direction I need in my new endeavors. Thanks Ali for encouraging me.
