I like simple. I like healthy. I like routine. Any time I can find a combination of those three things I get really excited.
eMeals recently contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in testing out their monthly meal planning service.
Figuring out what to eat and feed my family has always been my responsibility. I've written in the past about the challenges we've faced with Simon's eating habits (super picky, texture aversions, etc). Often times it has just been easier to feed him his preferred foods vs. planning something that leads to a ton of resistance. So much of that depends on my own personal mental health and patience level - because, you know what, sometimes it's just really hard. I'm also well aware, through years of experience now, that encouraging both my kids to try new foods is a good thing (and usually worth the time we sit at the table) and that by continuing to introduce new foods it is actually widening the things they eat.
Simon's been doing pretty darn good these days trying new foods and/or eating non-preferred foods (especially compared to a few years ago). I want to keep encouraging him and modeling good healthy eating habits. Having a favorite treat at the end of the meal as something to work towards doesn't hurt either.
All of that lead me to saying yes to eMeals.
I chose the Natural & Organic Family Plan and each week I get an email that includes 7 dinners (main dish + side) with ingredients and instructions, and a grocery shopping list. I'm loving having a list of pre-planned options each week and I love that someone is doing the work for me. I don't always stick exactly with the meals on the list but I love having it there as a jumping off point. So far it's been relatively successful - I've been picking a couple meals a week to try and having other nights be some of the Simon's preferred meals (grilled cheese, bean & cheese burritos, cheese pizza, baked potato, etc). The meals are simple and healthy and don't involve a ton of work or prep and I love knowing what we are eating before 5pm.
I'm still using the weekly menu plan I designed so Simon can read what's on the menu each night - you can download the PDF for free here.
eMeals is definitely helping me to expand our meal choices and simplifythe process by taking care of the planning and grocery list.
I think this would make a great gift for someone (at least it's the kind of gift I'd love to receive - something that keeps on giving throughout the year). 3 months is $21, 6 months is $35, or 12 months is $58.
Here's how it works:

This looks like a great program! Hard to decide which meal plan to use. After looking through them, I'd choose Clean Eating, but I saw recipes in all of them that I liked! Thanks for the chance to win!

I would love to try the Classic meals, however they all look pretty amazing!
We struggle with meal planning and end up eating out too much. This looks like a well planned out week. I looked at a couple of the sample plans, and love that they allow you to select a likely place you will be purchasing from. Plus, the variety is amazing!

Oh, wow, I would have to say I'd start with Classic. I have seriously fussy eaters in my house, and I'm stuck in a rut now making the same things over and over. This would be an amazing prize to win right now, and a much needed time-saver for me!! Thanks so much for the chance to win, Ali!

I have never tried the eMeals program, but think the concept is excellent - especially today when everyone is so busy. I would try the Simple Gourmet. Thanks for introducing us to this.

I'd try Low-Fat. My husband has just been diagnosed with heart disease and it seems most like what the doctors recommend.
Thanks~

I would choose the classic meals. Sounds like recipes my kids would really enjoy and the whole plan would definitely be helpful to a single mother like myself.

I have always heard great things about eMeals. I am trying to eat at home more often and this would be a great way for me to get out of the rut I've been food-wise. The problem is deciding which plan to choose...the sample menus all sounded fabulous so it's very hard to pick one. I am intrigued by Paleo, Clean Eating and Simple Gourmet, and should probably pick either Low Carb or Low Fat. Too bad they don't offer a sampler plan!! If I have to narrow it down, I would say Paleo because I know several people who are choosing to eat that way.

We have a joke in the house that if 3 out of 4 people in our house will eat dinner, it is a success!
I would really love to try this system! Thanks for the great giveaway.

I'd also go with the Natural & Organic Family Plan, although my "meat n potatoes" family might stage an uprising!!! :)
