One Little Word 2013

My word for 2013 is open.
Last year I had a great story about how my word came to me. This year it was more of a whisper and to be honest I'm not really sure what it means for me right now, or what it will end up meaning for me 12-months from now. And I'm okay with that.
Open is an attitude and an approach. It's a reminder to live wholeheartedly, to enter the ring, to live the length and the width. It's how I want to tackle this year.
I love that open is an action & a re-action. I can act with an open heart; I can re-act with an open heart.
I want to be open to it all - the amazing and the challenging. Wide open.
Are you considering selecting a word for yourself (or letting one find you)? There's no right or wrong. The main thing to remember is that this is your word. It's not for your child, parent, partner, spouse, sister, etc.
And what do you do with this one little word?
You live with it. You invite it into you life. You let it speak to you. You might even follow where it leads. There are so many possibilities.
I'd love to read what word you've chosen or are considering for 2013. In the comments feel free to simply leave your word as your comment or write a bit about why you are choosing this word. In a couple days I'll combine all the words into a single post - super inspiring to see all the words in one place.
If you’re new to the concept of One Little Word, you can read some of my previous posts here: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

ONE LITTLE WORD WORKSHOP
Registration is open for 2013 and you're invited to join the journey.
Each month you'll receive a prompt with a simple creative, writing, or photography project and a gentle reminder to check back in with your word. By the end of the year you'll have compiled the contents of an 8.5x11 album that documents, defines, celebrates and generally makes your word more visible. Workshop materials include printable elements, full-color PDF handouts, and video presentations.
People have been asking me if you have to be a scrapbooker for this class. My answer is no. Even though we are making an album it's really more of a journaling/record keeping/thinking/exploring project. I'm excited to see how people interpret the prompts and make them meaningful for their own lives.
This is not complicated and it's not time-consuming. It's simply a way we can come together to share our experience with our words throughout the course of the year.
The One Little Word classroom opens on January 1, 2013.

ENOUGH. I actually am considering a white tattoo of it on my wrist. My God is enough. As a child of God, I am enough. Who I am and where I am and what I have is all enough. Focusing on being happy and satisfied and content. Because my God is enough. Enough. That is my olw for 2013.

[...] We made it through another year. Goodbye 2012. It has been a bitter-sweet year. A year with wonderful adventures and new happenings, but the end of the year also brought a sadness with a death in the family. I’m ready for 2013. I’m looking forward to new beginnings and becoming more involved with life and family. It’s time to MOVE forward and to MOVE more, which is my one little word for the year. (See Ali Edwards’ post here.) [...]

This is my first time with One Little Word and I am excited to be part of it! My word for 2013 is 'refresh'. I have had a rough few years with health of family members, my own physical health and spiritual health. I have spent the last 18yrs as a busy SAHM, wife and daughter. The last 4 years have had me very busy with our son and his health, we have moved to an area I struggle with (very close to famimly that are not close in relationships), changed not only physical address but our life also (back to farming full time) So I choose "refresh" -- the definition is so what I need:
1. To revive with or as if with rest, food, or drink; give new vigor or spirit to.
2. To give new freshness or brightness to; restore.
3. To make cool, clean, or moist; freshen up.
4. To renew by stimulation.
I need to daily refresh my life and start spending time on AND with ME and Christ so I can be the best wife, mother, daughter and friend I can be!

I've never picked a word for the coming year before but always fancied joining in. So, my word for 2013 is POSITIVE – I want my work to be a positive force in the world and I want to think and feel positively this year. My husband's word is KNOWLEDGE as he wants to read and learn this year.

My word is Receive. Being Receptive. For me it beautifully encompasses listen, learn, connect, observe, silence, open. Learn to Receive what the universe is offering in place of having to have the solution, know the answer, steer the ship. Last year was Steadfast. Thank you for this!

Receive. Be receptive. For me Receive beautifully encompasses open, listen, connect, learn, share, present, yield. Feeling that there's something to learn in every encounter and that solutions, answers, ideas may reveal themselves through unexpected avenues. Last year was Steadfast - ahhhhhhhh, how that saw me through. Peace, friends - a beautiful year is ahead

TREASURE, that is my word this year. I will treasure all the gifts life gives me, seek the hidden treasures in all my travels, and most of all, I will treasure the moments with family and friends.

My OLW is POSITIVE. This year I want to eliminate negativity from my life and surround myself with positive people and things that add value rather than pull me down. I am a positive person by nature and have felt a sense of heaviness in some situations last year where I should have cut myself off from the situations. I am an optimist and a fighter so I tend to hang around too long hoping things will change for way too long. ;) I also want to add to people's lives by giving and sharing positivity. 2013 will be my best year yet!

My OLW for this year is spirituality. I thought long and hard about this little word and the impact I wanted it to have in my life. To be honest I kept circling around this word trying to avoid it at costs, but continuously came right back around, full circle to this word. 2012 brought with it some pretty challenging experiences and tragedy in my life. I have been so gratefully and humbly enlightened to the fact that the one part of me that I have been lacking in my life is spirituality. I committed to embarking upon that spiritual journey and figuring out my own spirituality in this world, but didn't know where to begin and quite truthfully am TERRIFIED to open up the doors and take that first step. This OLW challenge sounds like a good place to start. So here is to my first step out those doors... I'm registering for the class.
