Meet Katie

Today I'd like to officially introduce you to Katie.
Katie started working for me as a nanny back in 2009 when Anna was about three months old. I found her via care.com (a great site for finding local babysitters, nannies and caregivers). She's become one of my closest friends and essentially a part of our family.
Last October she started working for my business full-time as my Assistant. Her duties include things like media updates (Facebook, Twitter, etc), product spotlight posts, office organization, keeping me on track, digital file saving, handling emails, etc. It's been great having her here in the office with me during the day and she's definitely helping me in a million different ways.
Meet Katie in her own words:
Where are you from?I grew up in Eugene, Oregon. I really love this town.
Family? My parents are two of my best friends. They are just the best. They have been married for 33 years and have been dating since they were 12. They love Jimmy Buffett and taught me my love for concerts. I have one sister, who is 6 years older than me. She lives in Portland and is a fabulous hairstylist. Peter (my fiance) and I have been together for almost 8 years. He's my high school sweetheart and I cannot wait to marry him in September.
Favorite thing to do on the weekend? I'm definitely a homebody. I really love curling up on the couch with a good (or some may say bad) romantic comedy or a cheesy romance novel.
Music?I definitely like all different kinds of music. My top 25 most played on my iPod include John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, Glee Cast, Duffy, Van Morrison, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and the cast of Wicked. It's a tie between two songs for my favorite of all time: Tiny Dancer by Elton John and Don't Worry Baby by The Beach Boys.
Favorite TV Show? Homeland and Dexter are definitely favorites. Currently I am indulging in a super guilty pleasure: The Bachelor. Ali and I have been watching it together and it's been so fun to watch it with a friend.
Movies?I live, love, and breathe movies. I don't think I can pick a favorite. I would choose going to the theater or staying home to watch a movie probably over anything else. Ali shares my love for movies. Just one of the many reasons we get along so well.
Favorite Color?Yellow.
Current book you are reading?Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks (super excited to see the movie when it comes out on Valentines day).
Favorite Food? Anything with chocolate.
Favorite Vacation Destination?I have been lucky enough to go to Italy twice, and nothing tops that. I have had some great vacations to Key West, FL though. It is a family favorite.
Do you have other hobbies?Thrift Shopping. I love love love it. I have an Etsy shop where I sell my vintage finds (currently working on listing more of my finds.) I also love singing show tunes while doing the dishes or taking a shower.
Do you scrapbook?I'm just starting to. I've done a few scrapbook on the road albums, and I did December Daily last month (which I have yet to finish). I'm doing Project Life this year and I am so excited about it. I'll be sharing my Project Life pages here soon.
What are some of your favorite scrapbook products? I love anything from Dear Lizzy and Amy Tan. I'm also a big fan of Studio Calico's products. I tend to gravitate towards polka dots, stripes and floral print.

So nice to formally be introduced to you, Katie! I've heard so much about you for so long and finally got some glimpses from CHA and now this - Hi! Just beware because I'm sure you know all about Ali's fans - I'm sure you'll find we'll be your fans, too! I love seeing the pictures you take of Ali! That's such a fantastic gift! The things that I love that you love are: the color yellow, movies, and I'd love to go to Oregon (I have never been and hear such wonderful things about it!) Thanks again for sharing yourself with us! Wishing you lots of joy as you plan for your wedding!

Hi Katie, it's nice to meet you. I met Ali a few years ago in VA when she came to teach at a Get Croppin event. What a fun job for you to have. I read the book you are reading and loved it! I did not know they were doing a movie so that is good to know, I will be going to see it for sure. If you like Nicolas Sparks you might also like Barbara Freethy.

Hi Katie (and Ali) - we too have an awesome babysitter who has become so much more for a family. A lucky (and rare) find. Wish I could come join you guys for The Bachelor (although I already ruined it for myself by reading an online spoiler...argh!) I'm sure this will be the most dramatic season ever! xo

Wonderful to learn more about you, Katie. :) My family and I will be re-locating to South Africa next year and I will need to find regular care for my 3-year-old daughter -- I can only pray that we find someone who will become as much a treasure to us as you are to Ali, Simon and Anna. :)
