For The Love Of Sweet Lily Girl
Tags:Our sweet Lily girl passed away peacefully yesterday after an awesome last run on the beach she loved so much.
She was the most fabulous friend and we will miss her everyday. She had a wonderfully full life during her 12+ years with us. She especially loved going hunting with Chris or my Dad, running on the beach, and hanging out with me in my office.
She was my constant companion and was by my side during all the best and most challenging times. I had the thought today that maybe she stayed around (she was very sick in the summer of 2011 but pulled through) to be with me during the time I needed her most.
I am so thankful she was a part of my life.
Love you Lily girl. Thank you.
See more photos and read a post from 2011 about her story here.

They squirm right into your heart and life, and the bond is permanent. We lost our husky two years ago, and we still miss her presence. Having a dog is one of life's blessings, and yours was Lily.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's amazing the sixth sense dogs have about humans going through trials and tribulations -- they always seem to know when you need a little extra love. It sounds like she had a wonderful life.

Ali, Simon, and Anna: I'm so so very sorry for your loss. I'm in tears writing this as I know I will have to go through this experience in the near future...our Steffi girl is 13.5 and definitely slowing down. No words of wisdom, just hugs.

Dear Ali, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I, too, have a black lab who gets a little more gray with each passing day and is a bit more hesitant to follow up and down the stairs--he waits by the steps but just doesn't have the desire to climb them anymore.

Ali, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Lily. So many of my friends are going thru the same thing...it seems we all found our fur babies around the same time (wanting a little practice before starting full blown families). It is so hard to see them aging...my boxer Riley will be 10 this September!
I'm glad to hear that Lily was able to enjoy her last days and know that she was loved so much by her family. My heart goes out to you and the kids. I hope you are surrounded by happy memories with her...
Thinking of you!

I'm sorry about Lily. If you can work/drive and listen to a story at the same time I recommend Marlie. Listening to it is so much better, and what the author says about dogs at the end is so cool.
Also, I think you would really really like a boxer. They look mean, but are the sweetest babies ever. Smart, good with kids,loyal...

Ali, your post about Lily touched me as I lost my dog, Sam, at the very old age of 20. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a family member. Sending you a big huge hug and woof!
