One Little Word® 2014 | The List & The Reading Of The Words

This is my first OLW class, very excited.
So I thought I had my word twice now. I finally realized there has been a word all along right in front of me that I just realized that I need this year.

It is Gentle.

It is a word we have been using a lot in our house lately and it finally rang true that Gentle is what I need to focus on.
The word first came when my oldest son's therapist used it. We have focused on it with him a lot this year he is 3. ALso with my 2 year old teaching him to be Gentle.
I realize I need to be Gentle with myself, the way I talk about myself. Not putting myself down.
The way I react to my kids when they are both throwing tantrums and upset.
I could go on and on. My word was in front of me all along, glad I finally saw it.

What I find interesting is that after choosing a word, if I second guess myself or think that it's not good enough, I feel it in my chest that I can't change the word - my word is my word. And, incidentally, my word for this year is health.

My word is imperfection. I feel I need to embrace being imperfect and let go of being perfect.

My 9-year-old has decided to join me on this journey. At first, she was going to pick her own name, which I think is quite profound! Then she thought some more and decided on: "Selfie." Love!

I'm a little late to the game, as it took me a while to narrow it down, but I've finally decided on CALM. And I think it's going to be a little harder than it sounds.

Reflect is going to be my word of focus for the 2014 year.

My word is RELEASE.

My OLW this year is ADVENTURE... my life fell apart in 2013 and even though my kids and I have been through Hell, I'm choosing to start 2014 with a positive outlook. My only resolution this year was to say "yes" to anything that could be seen as an adventure. I'm hopeful that it will lead to a little fun, a little failure, a lot of living, and no regrets.

I love this! My OLW is Strength, and my mantra is: do no harm, but take no shit!

My OLW is ATTEND, attend to my family, attend to my projects, home, work and life in general! Thanks for the inspiration Ali!

My One Little Word is BECOMING! What does that mean exactly? Well, I'm looking for methodologies/teachings that I can incorporate in my life to become the best parent, teacher, blogger, etc. that I can be--in other words, I'm looking for new concepts/ideas to improve in each of the roles I have taken on in my life.

2014 is PUSH for me.

I always love hearing the words spoken out loud by Liz. It's really quite emotional for me to hear all the words that other people have chosen--what amazing stories are surely behind the reasons why those particular words will be lived with for a year.
