The Search For Glasses | Say Hello To David Kind
Tags:Last month I received an email with an invitation to try a different way to purchase eyeglasses from a new company called David Kind.
Here's the deal: I don't love that I need to wear glasses and I don't particularly like the process of picking out new glasses. I find I'm usually in a hurry - get in, get out. I also tend to wear my glasses for a long time until they are riddled with scratches or I need a new prescription. I rarely have more than one pair at once.
When this invite came through I thought it sounded like a fun way to test out some new frames and they have a super classy website and I like the idea of this kind of service and let's be honest, I can almost always use a style update.
David Kind is set up a bit like Stitch Fix.
After you sign up you upload a photo of yourself and any information you want them to know and enter your credit card information and then a stylist chooses six different pairs of glasses for you and mails them to your home. Free styling and free shipping.
And I loved their mission statement: Our mission is to provide the highest quality frames and lenses, hand selected to match your facial features and personal style by a friendly, qualified, real person. We provide people with glasses they look great in, lenses they see better through, all via unparalleled customer service.
Yes.
They arrive in a beautiful box (felt like Christmas) and then the fun of trying them on begins.
Now here's where I'd like some help from you guys. Which one do you like on me?
After trying them on and writing a couple notes on each pair on the cards provided you can pick one (or more) pairs to purchase.
You send the box and the glasses back and include your prescription and they will send you back your new glasses.
Trying them on was super fun. Having them here in my house for a few days was a much better experience than the pressure of being in the glasses store and feeling like I needed to make a quick decision.
So what do you think? I've got my personal favorite and so does Katie. I'll share the final result after I hear from you guys.

I think they all look good on you. Since you have them for a few days, I would wear them for extended periods of time and make sure which ones feel the most comfortable on your nose and ears. Glasses often bug me after I wear them for 8 hours straight, nothing that you notice when you wear them for a few minutes. Also how the field of vision looks-does one pair cut it off more than others? That might be a good way to eliminate some of them. I never had to wear glasses until the year I turned 45 and had to get them for reading. What a PITA. I have glasses (readers) all over the house, practically in every room.
Aloha, Kate

Love this idea! Maybe I'll try this next time too. I do the same as you with my glasses. :)
Favorite is #2! I really think they compliment your features perfectly. #3 is a close second with the similar shape.
Good luck!

I'm a fan of number 6, but I also like number 2. I think I'd have to buy 2 pair so I'd have a choice according to my mood!

5 and 6 are my favorites on you. 6 cuz they're so fun and unique and I think 5 fits your face shape really well. I get my glasses at fir moo.com because they're really well priced and I can play with lots of different shapes and colors for not too much money. I'm kind of addicted to buying glasses. :P

Frameless! I don't know how many hours a day you wear your glasses, but they are definitely the way to go! No sore ears. No indentations on your nose. I'll be they're light as a feather and we can see your lovely eyes!

The ones I wear now are super, super light (and I like them). Most likely I'm going to go with something different for these as more of a fun pair :). But I agree - love light-weight.

#2 followed by #3.
#1 makes you look washed out and the others are too big for your face.
Just my humble opinion, of course. LOL

Hi Ali,
I don't know, if asking here really helps for your decicion.
At first sight I thought No 2 is best.Although you look very funny there.
If you dont like the harsh contrast, no 3 is ok too.
i dont like frameless glasses and no 4-6 are too big. The glasses are for your eyes and not for your cheeks ;)
So I look forward to your decicion and the new glasses. I dont think we have a company like this in germany. And I like the idea.
I have glasses for 43 years now and have the problem, that in the store I can't see if the glasses fit for me, because without glasses I only can see frames and shadows. So this would be great for me.
Greetings from germany
Cornelia
