Week In The Life™ 2016 | Sunday Words & Photos
We have reached the end of another Week In The Life™ documentation period.
Thank you so much for being a part of the journey this year. I'm getting excited about collecting all my content and bringing it together with a kit into my album. My plan is to start working on it later this week.
Please remember that there is no right or wrong way to put your own album together.
Sunday's are almost always my lightest photo days and this year was no exception. All the photos taken today were with my iPhone. I'm cool with that as a way to wind down the week of intense photo taking. I know for sure that I will wake up on Monday morning and feel like I should be doing something because now I'm just in the habit of taking photos more often once again.
Here's a look at my Sunday:
This almost never happens: coffee + paper in bed.
Aaron was here and he was still sleeping so I went downstairs and fed the animals and made myself a cup of coffee and got the paper and got back in bed. I loved that. While we were sitting there we created a plan for our day which included Costco, exercise and then dinner out.
We don't usually get this much uninterrupted time alone together, especially on a weekend, so it was savored.
For me Sundays when the kids are with Chris are usually the day where I get ready for the week ahead. That might include meal planning, grocery shopping, finishing up the laundry, etc. I like how it sets me up for a calm week.
We stopped at Jamba Juice on the way to Costco where we leisurely went up and down each and every aisle seeing what there was to see. Today there was a lot of people watching to be done as it was packed. I don't usually go to Costco on the weekends but it worked out with our schedule today and my need to stock up before the kids get home after school tomorrow.
After Costco I unpacked all the stuff into the kitchen and panty, moved laundry around and then stared a new workout program using the Sweat With Kayla app.
It was rough.
I am super out of shape and this needs to happen so I'm going to make it happen. After that I went for a 3-mile walk along my normal neighborhood route.
What in the heck is this you might be asking? This is how I take off my gel manicure if I'm not getting it done again right away. It kinda worked. My nails need a break again. Aaron helped me do the last three fingers.
We decided to have an early dinner of happy hour sushi at one of our local favorites (Izumi).
And then we hit the grocery store for a couple more things I need for the week before the kids get back. The rest of the evening was spent lounging and movie watching.
I actually love this kind of low-key, get ready for the week Sunday.

Thank you for this project, Ali. I had a few teen "Is this over yet?" comments, but other than that it went well. I used the project life app and scrapped the photos every night so I am done. I want to tha you for sharing your photos on your blog, too. I'm not sure many of us would last all week without the daily inspiration to keep going.

Ali, could you please please show us your finished album in a video when you're done? A video shows the flow of the different days much better than just photos. Thank you!

Thank you Ali, always fun following along on this journey. My Sunday was also very low key with few photo's.

Love your hand photo!! Made me smile! Looks like a good day! I am so happy I finished the documenting and photo taking. I think in life so many times I let all the kids things overshadow the kind of projects I love too! This week helped in the balance of my loves and theirs:) Thank you so much! Now album time!!!

I loved doing WIL this year, as I do each year, but the difference for me this time was that I had just completed your Lens of Joy class. I have been taking pictures of my family for years and years and I love that I have. But, lately I have been a bit bored. Bored with the same angles, the same smiles, the same "come on kids, just one more" kind of thing. However, I love taking pictures so that wasn't working for me. I didn't want to feel bored and I definitely didn't want to let my picture taking go, so I decided I needed to change my approach. Lens of Joy came at the perfect time. It has helped me to get out of my slump and take pictures in different ways. I've been trying not to be the "look this way" mom and am just taking everyday shots of the kids as they interact with each other, or while doing homework, or while hanging out and I love the results. Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for the class. I can't wait to see what ideas you have in store for us next.
Awesome - love that feedback and so glad it made a difference for you.

Thank you for this project. I just started last year, but wish I would have done something like this years ago. Our "normal" has changed so dramatically over the years. This year, I felt like I did not take enough photos, but was able to print what I had taken and put most of them in the album by the end of Sunday. I did get the WITL boxes templates to have my girls (15 and 12) fill in each day. They are more for little kids, but they were quick and easy. It got to the point that I wanted these filled out each day so much that I paid them to do them and play along with all the photo-taking. (I gave them $5 per day for the sheet and for being nice and letting me take the photos, and reshots, as needed all week, without complaining, with a bonus $5 if I got all the papers back before dinner on Sunday.) It cost me $80, plus the album kit, but it is worth it to me to have some memories and decent photos. I liked that I could add some of their perspective to the book, and plan to make some kind of questionnaire for them to fill in to add to the album.

Thanks so much for your daily posts. I really enjoy reading them and they gave me so many good ideas for recording our week. I had fun trying to find new angles and perspectives to capture our routines.

I love your idea on the journaling for WITL this time. I stole your idea and it really helped me organize my thoughts and pictures for the week. Thank you as always for the inspiration. I so with I was half as talented as you are.
