December Daily® 2017 | Day 15

Welcome to  December Daily® 2017 | Day 15.

Today I'm adding my story to the heart "storybook" page I set up during my  Product Play Workshop last month. That workshop is still open if you wanted to jump in and get a much closer look at how I built some of these pages (focusing on hearts, circles and stars).

My page today invites a story about loving home. It's total coincidence that the title of this story is " for the love of home" - it's a phrase that I often use and I loved being able to use it for the Story Kit™ theme this month. You can read more about the For The Love kit here

To tell my story I decided to get myself in the story by setting up my camera + tripod outside my front door and take a couple shots of myself between my two fake trees on my front porch. Those trees are from Target and the silver tubs are from Home Depot. I totally laughed at myself and had fun taking photos of myself with my cup of coffee in hand. I used the self-timer to get myself back in the doorway before the shutter clicked.

This whole thing totally reminded me of a story I told back in 2015 when I was putting up garland and lights along my front porch railing - it was all about making our own magic and choosing to find the joy no matter what is happening in our lives.

Remember this one

Magic is something we make. Yes. This project always helps me remember this and I'm so thankful.

Here's what the page initially looked like in my  Foundation Pages

And here's how it ended up looking in my album starting with Page 1 in my little heart booklet:

For the alphabet stamping I used my  Sans Serif Alpha Stamp - totally love this set. I also added a black chipboard number, a chipboard phrase, and a couple gold stars.

And page 2 (the center page and what you see when you turn to this page in the album):

I left this page the same except I added the  For The Love stamp inside the index tab.

And page 3:

For this page I cut out on of the shots of myself using the original heart as a template. On top of the photo I added a wood veneer circle + a small gold foil circle on top.

The "around here" stamp is from the  Daily Words Stamp Set.

And then here's what I did on the back side of the transparency:

This is me trying to be silly. Making my heart light.

Here are the pages outside the album:

Seriously so fun. All of it. Love how this one turned out.

I did not do this page from the workshop (which by the way Product Play has been one of my favorite to date) because I didn't know how I would use it. Now that I see it in action, I really want to include it. I love how this turned out in your album! fabulous work as always ;-)

I made this for product play and had some definite ideas about what I was going to do but this has got me rethinking how I will use this. Thanks for your daily inspiration and I hope, hope, hope you do a new product play class next year. You DD products are great and having some base pages done before December really helps spark stories and keep the merry in our hearts!

What a fun video to watch! Loving the chance to see your creative process. So funny ... I found myself talking to you out loud during the embellishments - saying things like ..”I like the star better there” or “I like that part plain”. Geez! What a goof I am. But just goes to show you do a great job of making us feel like we’re in your craft studio with you ;-) Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos! Wishing you all the joy this holiday season.

Omg, there's a "pizza research institute" in Eugene? Is this the name of a restaurant or an actual research institute? And do they hire post-docs? ;)

Ali, I have not yet "scraplifted" from your posts, but have received many good ideas as I watched you videos. This one though -- with the heart -- I just may scraplift. This is a treat!

Could you have made a mask in photo shop like the circle to get better placement for the photo in the heart shape? Just curious. Thanks for sharing.
