Project Life® 2019 | Intro Page

For this year's Project Life® Intro Page I'm going photo-heavy.

If you haven't seen my post yet about the changes to how I'm approaching 2019 Project Life® documenting you can read about that here. I'll be using a black 9x12 album this year and doing monthly vs. weekly storytelling. I'm excited and a little nervous and I think that's probably the best place for me to be right now.

As you'll see below I'm using a few pieces from the January 2019 Stories By The Month™ kit along with a few things from my shop to get this album started.

There's still a short window of time to grab the January Stories By The Month™ kit + begin your subscription. I'm planning on using other pieces from this kit for my monthly January story that I'll share here after the end of the month. Please note: the new kit for February will become available on January 13th at 9am Pacific. If you are interested in these designs after that date the digital option is available

Here's a look at how I'm starting my album for 2019:

As I mentioned up at the top, I'm going photo-heavy for my intro page this year. I loved the process of looking back though 2018 and picking out a few of my favorite photos/memories. If you wanted your intro page to be a collection of 2019 photos you could wait until the end of the year and select favorites from this year to open your album. In general I've added photos from previous years to my new year intro page so I'm going with that again.

I loved using the 9x12 2B Page Protector with the 3x3 pockets. Just that switch up in and of itself has already invigorated me. I cut down one of the cards from the January kit to fit the 3x3 pocket.

To designate the year I used these fun Transparency Numbers inside a 3x8 page protector. I used a bone folder to slide the numbers inside the page protector. These page protectors (and my 6x8 page protectors) fit right into the 9x12 album which is awesome for mixing and matching. On the outside of the page protector (on both the front and the back) I added chipboard ovals from the January Stories By The Month™ kit

I also cut up another of the 3x4 journal cards and added that inside the Avery Index Tab

Inside the back of the Avery Index Tab I used this the Phrases Rolling Stamp - still my favorite.

I'm so happy to have this project underway again. Here's a look at what it all looks like inside the album. Bring on 2019 stories!

I super love this! I wasn’t sure if I was going to create an intro page, but I think this might be the way to go. Thanks for the inspiration!

And I signed up for a subscription for the Stories by the Month this month and got my first kit! So excited to create with it. Just want to say thanks for making this kit adorable but still packed with goodness.

Beautiful Ali... Still figuring out what project life actually is.
I could use any size to create my PL right? And then just putting what happened that month into pocket pages?

Oh the good old times. We used to create so much mini-albums out of scratch and more 12x12 layouts... Miss those days... It doesn't feel like scrapbooking anymore with all the inserts. Are you thinking of designing 12 by 12 layout or better yet mini-album kits? Everything included to create one yourself. I remember the very first mini-album I did when i started scrapbooking. Do you remember the mini-album with all the tags in it: Yesterday, today and tomorrow. We could purchase it everywhere. Looking for to recreate that album again.

    Please bring it back

    Have an amazing day

    Emine
PS: Working on my OLW album.... I learned so much already...
    Love this project of self-development...

You can do Project Life in any size you want - it started as 12x12 and people have adapted it to fit their storytelling needs. I don't have any plans to create 12x12 or mini-album kits at this time (we do have something coming out next week that includes a few 12x12 papers - you'll see that sometime next week).

I'm so looking forward to seeing how you document this year and how/what stories you tell. I have done one year of PL and started with a monthly layout then moved to one page per week and then a couple of double spreads per week. It was good to try out a few different ways of working but monthly was my favourite and I went back to that in December.

I think mixing it up and finding what works for you at a particular time is the best way to approach it!

I think your brave this year for leaving 12x12. I will continue to watch and read how you tackle this Project Life in the new format. It's not for me though. Just too many little pockets so I will continue my 12x12 and my love of 4x6 photos format. Thanks for showing us.

Hi, I was wondering if there was a 12 month subscription for the digital kit as well? Thanks! Lara

Love this! I am also switching to a monthy 9x12. Is there a way to see what the upcoming SBTM kits look like?

Hi! We create physical products from last year's digital products - because of that you can see all the upcoming products here in digital form here (anything from 2018 will be used for 2019 physical products in the kit): https://www.aliedwards.com/shop/digital-sbtm

Whoa! Love the look of your title page! I am wondering if you print the 3x3 pictures yourself? If so please explain how you did that. Did you crop your pictures to a 3x3? Look forward to watching your progress with this new size and monthly documentation. Thanks for sharing.

I cropped them to 3x3 in photoshop and printed here at home on an Epson PictureMate PM400. I can put two, 3x3 images on a 6x4 print.

LOVE the transparent numbers - but unfortunately they are sold out - do you think these will be restocked? Thank you. LOVE the photo heavy intro page and will do the same with 4x4s for my 12x12 PL album - you are always such a great inspiration, so thank you for sharing. Birgit

LOVE the transparent numbers in the 3X8 page protector... and I love the inspiration you consistently bring to the table. I changed from weekly project life to monthly a few years ago and it works so much better for me. It really is about what works for each person at that time in their life. Thanks Ali, Happy New Year!

I was just wondering if the 3x8 and 6x8 page protectors worked in your 9x12 album. I'm glad I looked up this blog post! I figured you had addressed this somewhere. :) I think I'm going to try using a 9x12. I'm wanting to change things up a bit.
