Story Play Dogs + Cats | Ali's Project

Tags:

It's been so fun to see the projects being shared this week during our Dogs + Cats Story Play.

For my project I decided to create a little gathering of pages in order to feature each of my pets and use the prompt page for documenting five things I love about each one. I paired those spreads with the vellum as a front and back cover and created two photo grids of random photos of these pets over the years to go along with the vellum pages.

IDEAS TO NOTE

  • Think beyond the two page spread! Your story is however long it needs to be and you can bring multiple pages together in an album. A one or two page project looks great for sharing on social media but don't forget that this is for you and your family and you should add as many pages as you want/need to tell your stories.

  • I might add this little booklet into a new 6x8 album just for pet stories. This would be a great intro to an album like that. Otherwise I'll add it to my 2025 10x8 album.

  • In Photos I was able to click on the name of each pet + have a wide variety of photos of my pets pop up. That made it super easy to gather up past pet photos for my grid pages.

  • Don't forget that for most products we offer a digital version that you can print when you need more than one page for more than one story!

Here's a process video for how this came together:

Additional images:

This one started by cutting the two sheets of vellum in half and stitching them together in order to have both cats + dogs on the same page. I adhered one of the chipboard circles on top of the seam with red line tape.

Along the outside edge of my photo grid I stitched a strip of pattern paper (to make it the same size as my other pages).

On top of my photo grid I stamped "cats forever" and "dogs forever" on vellum to create additional embellishments. I used a 1.75 inch circle punch to punch out the vellum circles.

I added Avery Index Tabs along the top edge of my pages to identify each one. I used an older small alpha stamp set from Illustrated Faith for the names and then used a Pieces Of Joy sentiment stamp for the back.

For each of my animals I created a spread that includes the five things pattern paper (I used the digital version and the physical version). On top of "the story" I added a chipboard circle and I added a photo to the rectangle at the top of the page.

I've been seeing my friend Azzari use sticker photo paper recently and I wanted to try it out. I printed those smaller photos on Koala Printable Sticker Paper and peeled off the back after printing and added it right to the page. Worked great!

I used a Uniball Deluxe Micro pen for my journaling.

And repeat.

And repeat again!

This was so fun to put together.
