Tags:One of the things I love most about this house is the backyard. Big. On a sunny day I could stay out there for hours. Digging in the dirt. Planting. Even picking weeds. And of course, playing with Simon. He loves to be outside more than me...even the rain does not deter him from a backyard adventure. Mud is his friend.
The sun was out today and Simon was home from school so we spent a good portion of the day outside. Simon zooming around on his big-wheel-bike-thing, running in the grass, playing with the hose. Me hosing off the patio, moving planters around, and generally picking things up after a couple months of neglect. Last fall I planted TONS of daffodils that are so close to blooming. I think I will have my first one tomorrow. My Dad suggested that I plant them in the hanging baskets he had made with annuals for me last summer - they are all growing tall right now waiting for that perfect moment to break free. I love bulbs. Talk about a really low maintenance high reward plant. Photos to come as they bloom.
Today was also the first day that Simon refused to take off something he was wearing. His pair of pumpkin PJ's. Now normally he takes off the jammies first thing but today was a different story. I asked him if he wanted to take them off and he said, "No, k." So I left it at that. A bit later I actually unsnapped and started to unzip them for him. Normally he would zip them all the way down and off. Not today. Instead he zipped them back up and wanted to snap the snap. He kept them on when we went to play outside (with boots and coat overtop) and when he ate lunch (two chicken hot dogs). Finally, at nap time he was ready to take them off. Cool. Assert your desires dude!

I'm jealous - I KNEW I should plant bulbs last fall, but I was too lazy. And now I regret it. I look forward to your photos!

Flowers in February??? Lucky, lucky!
I love when bulbs bloom. The hardest part for me is to let the leaves stay and do their job once the flower has bloomed. It's hard not to snip them.
Love the Gerbera photo!

I am so jealous! That is my favorite flower in the entire world...I guess I have to plan ahead for beauties like those, though. Not my best quality :)

Love love love that red! I know I should have planted daffodil bulbs too but somehow just couldn't bring my pregnant self to do it last fall. I'll just have to buy some when I go grocery shopping.
