On being thankful...
Tags:
Thanks so much for all your comments and emails yesterday regarding being content. There is always something refreshing about recognizing our shared human experience - so for all of us struggling with patience and contentment here is a link about letting go, letting God.
The flowering trees to the left are ones I drive by everyday. This morning after I dropped Simon off at school I drove by as usual and decided I needed to grab my camera and walk out there and take a photo. A thankfulness photo for natural beauty. For the soft color of pink, for sun and shade, for things that take time.
And for reminding me again to focus on those little bright spots when I am feeling overwhlmed with so many things feeling unsettled. So, here is my thankful list for Friday:
1. Music : rocking out to Prince (thanks for loading that one here Jess) and Eminem right now
2. Sunshine :always amazed how much of an effect that has on my moods
3. Old Friends : going to a baby shower for a friend from college tomorrow - looking forward to catching up
4. GOODWILL :Simon and I went there last night and found TONS of goodies - including three pairs of pants and a cool shirt for him and about five baskets for me (including three matching wire ones - huge score)
5. Leftovers
6. Phone calls from pals : I used to not be much of a phone talker, but lately I have enjoyed some great conversation from some of my closest friends - love you guys
I'd love to hear what you guys are thankful for this week - it is always inspirational to read.
Also, I updated my aliedwardsdesign.com site with a bit more who, what, where & when, and why. Here is a screen shot of the updated home page (if you are wondering how to do a screenshot: on a mac go to applications/utilities/grab and open the program - it is really simple). I would really like to learn more about web design to give myself more freedom in the design. I'll add that to my list LOL. Have a great Friday!

What a coincidence, I was just writing about being grateful. It's so windy here in Iowa today. I hate wind but I try to be grateful for it this time of year because it helps dry out my garden so I can get planting. Can't wait!
Also on my list:
~Days like today, when my day job is easy
~The opportunity to learn and grow and network in the ag entrepreneurs class I'm taking
~Technology, for enabling me to make friends anywhere in the world
Thanks for the prompt to reflect!

Ali,
I always love reading your blog. :)
I'm extremely thankful for ...
• God's saving grace
• The best husband in the world - nobody else could put up with me, I'm grateful that he does!
• 2 awesome kids who are healthy and smart and adorable
• Family and friends
• Our home - It's not the most beautiful place in the world and I always complain that it's too small but I'm thankful for a roof over my head
• being a SAHM - I always wanted to be able to stay home and raise the kids and I'm thankful that DH lets me do that even though our budget is tight
• photography - thankful for God showing me the path to go down and for the people I am meeting because I trusted and followed
• alone time - being a SAHM has disadvantages, too - like the kids sometimes driving me insane - I'm thankful that DH lets me leave when I need to and go have some quiet time (again, I can't stress how thankful I am for my husband) and I'm thankful that during those quiet times I can sip on a Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino, which I am incredibly thankful for. LOL! :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kris
