On being thankful...

Thanks so much for all your comments and emails yesterday regarding being content. There is always something refreshing about recognizing our shared human experience - so for all of us struggling with patience and contentment here is a link about letting go, letting God.
The flowering trees to the left are ones I drive by everyday. This morning after I dropped Simon off at school I drove by as usual and decided I needed to grab my camera and walk out there and take a photo. A thankfulness photo for natural beauty. For the soft color of pink, for sun and shade, for things that take time.
And for reminding me again to focus on those little bright spots when I am feeling overwhlmed with so many things feeling unsettled. So, here is my thankful list for Friday:
1. Music : rocking out to Prince (thanks for loading that one here Jess) and Eminem right now
2. Sunshine :always amazed how much of an effect that has on my moods
3. Old Friends : going to a baby shower for a friend from college tomorrow - looking forward to catching up
4. GOODWILL :Simon and I went there last night and found TONS of goodies - including three pairs of pants and a cool shirt for him and about five baskets for me (including three matching wire ones - huge score)
5. Leftovers
6. Phone calls from pals : I used to not be much of a phone talker, but lately I have enjoyed some great conversation from some of my closest friends - love you guys
I'd love to hear what you guys are thankful for this week - it is always inspirational to read.
Also, I updated my aliedwardsdesign.com site with a bit more who, what, where & when, and why. Here is a screen shot of the updated home page (if you are wondering how to do a screenshot: on a mac go to applications/utilities/grab and open the program - it is really simple). I would really like to learn more about web design to give myself more freedom in the design. I'll add that to my list LOL. Have a great Friday!

1. The 01015 code that gets me 17 Eurocents a minute to talk to my deployed hubby.
2. Huey's teachers at his kindergarten, for their patience with Huey and me and our language barriers.
3. For the opportuities that we have to see Europe while we are living here. Every day is an adventure.
4. Here, here to whoever said that they are thankful for melting snow!
5. For the fabulous German flower shops.
6. For the fabulous German bakeries
7. For my brother finally heading in the right direction after dropping out of college last year
8. Digital camera technology and my itty bitty Canon Elph. I can take it everywhere, in my pocket.
9. Even though Andie only gives me about 20-30 minutes to workout at the gym before she freaks and wants only Mama in the daycare room, I'm thankful for that 20-30 minutes of time to exercise and reflect. And I'm thankful for the sweet lady who watches the kids while I work out, Susanna. Quinlan loves her and she's teaching him some German.
10. For my Nanny Flo and the memoirs that she is writing about her life.

Today, I am thankful:
For possibility. That every time the phone rings or the little "ding" goes off when email arrives, it could be anybody.
For libraries. I love that I can read about books on friends' blogs, order them online from my library and then go get them. Free of charge. Right now I'm reading Traveling Mercies. I'm grateful to you for that Ali :)
For Barnes & Noble. Endless entertainment for me and my girls. With coffee :)
For my ipod. Makes me feel cool - like my life has a personal soundtrack and I can carry it with me everywhere.
For Madelyn reading. Such a miraculous process. I helped out in her class today, and so many of her classmates aren't "there" yet. I'm grateful that this has come relatively easy to her. The world is so much bigger for her than it was before.
For bedtime. Which it is now, for the girls :)

Hi Ali!
This couldn't have been a more perfect time for this! I just spent 2 months on a jury in a murder trial of a young girl killed by her "best friends"... needless to say I am thankful for our justice system and my precious family and friends.
