The power of words.

Love to start my day reading blogs, checking in at Two Peas, reading email, drinking my coffee. This morning I read Leslie's post and just felt this overwhelming excitement for her and her decision to stay at home because I knew that what was she really wanted. Leslie is so cool. She has a smile that goes on for miles. I am just so proud of you for following your heart Les.
And the dice today say, live fearlessly.
When I picked up my first scrapbook magazine in November 2002 I was drawn to a page (or two at least) of this woman named Leslie Lightfoot. She is so awesome, I thought to myself. She has great style. Wow.
And so I started on my own journey. Creating pages. Posting on Two Peas. Checking out the Garden and buying all the magazines. And then, on January 23, 2003 I received an email...an email from Leslie Lightfoot. Yep, still have it - she wrote:
I remember the feeling that gave me. The smile on my face. The filling up of my heart. OMG Leslie Lightfoot emailed me. I called Chris over to the computer and made him read it too - he knew her from me talking about how much I enjoyed her pages. I was just so dang excited. And I have never forgotten that feeling.
So thanks Leslie, for taking the time to reach out to me a few years back. For giving me a boost. For your words. For filling me up. I am so glad we have become friends and had a chance to connect in person. I am so excited for you and proud of you for following your heart.

Ali, what a sweet entry in your blog about Leslie today. I only know of her from two peas and am also a fan. How exciting for her!
Hearing your story about the way you looked to her for inspiration and adored her work reminded me of how I feel about YOU!!! I discovered you at two peas, and now your who I look to for inspiration :) Meeting you in person last weekend at the Portland CK convention was so awesome for me. (As I'm sure it was for everyone who got to chat with you) I am just as excited for you to be where you are at in your sbing journey as you are for Leslie right now! That's just so cool!!!

Wow Ali---it's totally amazing to know that you too, have had that same experience. I floated on clouds for days after receiving the first email you sent me and still get a huge thrill when I pull up my email and see your name there! :-) Hearing this about you makes you seem even more "real", if that makes sense. Leslie does have an awesome style and I love to look at her pages. Thanks for the link to her blog---another one to add to my list. This hobby of ours is just so awesome and I love the poeple I've met.

Ali,
I just received my first email from you this week.. and I reacted the exact same way :) My husband teased me when I told him.. but then he said it was cool. Your posts this week have been very inspiring. I, too, decided to get my booty out of debt this year (actually, it's more like a 30 month plan) but just having the "plan" makes me feel better about things. I actually was going to go to CKU MN and take your class this year, I was registered and everything... and then I decided getting out of debt was more important. So maybe one day I will get to thank you in person for inspiring me.. when we're both out of debt! Missy

I so enjoyed this post ali..so nice to see how scrapbooking truly touches our lives. I met Leslie for the first time at Memory Trends, and she is one of the kindest down to earth gals I have come across in this wonderful hobby.
Kudos to both of you, for celebrating friendship, and to leslie, for taking this new journey.

Hi Ali,
I found my new "scrapbook" hobby since last year when I browsed through a Creating Keepsake magazine while shopping @ a supermarket, and that's how I started exploring the different scrapbook stores in town, which eventually led me to your new book, "A designer's eye."
Since then, I am an avid scrapbooker ^^
I bought your book and learned seriously a lot from it :D
I like your neat looking pages and draw a lot of inspirations from it too.
Thanks Ali :)
I would love to share my scrap-pages too at two peas but don't know how to do so.
I guess I'll send them an email and ask how.
And last but not least, thanks for sharing your day-to-day inspiration and story. I also enjoy your pictures posted here on your blog :)

It is so funny to me that you posted about your admiration for someone and how they influenced your scrapbooking, because you Ms Ali totally influenced the way that I scrapbook now. I learned from you how to make my pages something I am proud of. You made scrapbooking fun for me again in a time when I wasnt having so much fun with it. Thank you for that. Oh, and I must say that I think I had to suppress a scream the first time I got an email from you ;)
