Thanks Mom.

Mom was here for a visit this weekend. The woman is amazing.
She comes here to hang out with us and always ends up cooking and cleaning and helping us out. Of course, we are not complaining - we are so very thankful to have her here. She went grocery shopping with me and Simon on Saturday morning (my favorite time to go). Cool to have her there - she always has such great ideas for things to cook. And truth be told, I just really like having her around. No matter what we are doing. I just like her.
She is a gem.
When we came back from the store she cooked up some beef stew for us to eat this week (that rocks) and made swiss steak for dinner. She played with Simon. Drank a beer with me at dinner. Ate popcorn with us (a total family thing - which of course we had for our Sunday dinner tonight too). This morning she put a little white cabinet together for me that had been sitting in the mudroom for months. I caught her pulling weeds outside while she played with Simon. She took him for a walk around the neighborhood. She threw the ball for Lily.
She would have folded clothes if she could have found them.
But she didn't even do any scrapbooking this time. I love that she is getting into it - it is fun to share products with her and be excited about creating things together. Hoping she can come to a CKU with me later this year.
Come back Mom - I like it when you are here.
The photo tonight is what I look at when I am sitting at my computer. Our grocery store had these awesome tulips - such a great color mixture.

Ali,
Having a good relationship with a daughter, or a Mother, is definitely a BLESSING! I love coming to visit you and your family. You have such an awesome outlook on life! Sometimes I have tried to define what the word joy means to me in my life...I can tell you that I feel joy to be with you! Thank you for including me in your life and for making me feel welcome and loved! Mom

My mom is coming in three weeks. Along with my dad. She will make me sandwiches for lunch, and they will be better than any sandwich I could ever possibly make, because she's my mom, and because of the "sandwich rule."
She will make me cookies. She will hang with my kids.
Years before kids, she would come and clean my house from top to bottom while i was at work. She would fold my clothes. She would leave me little hidden packets of money.
I miss that time.
But I sure do appreciate the sandwiches even more.

Mums are the best. I miss my Mum so much and after 4 years we will be reunited again this August! Talking to her on the phone every week was a great substitute for a little while, but I just can't wait to do girly things with her again. Thanks for this post, I loved reading it.

Mom's rock. I always count my blessings that I have a great mom and a great relationship with my mom. They always know just what to do. Just what to say. Their food tastes better. The laundry they do seems softer. Hooray for moms.

Tulips are my absolute favorite... it's tulip time in NW WA where I live- my favorite time of the year. Your entry made me miss my mom... and challenged me to make certain I praise her, often and to others, for the multitude of "little" things that she does that are never "little" to me. Thanks Ali.

GORGEOUS flowers, A! They look quite comfortable positioned on your windowsill in the company of your assorted A's. :) Glad you had fun with your mom!
