Still crazy busy here. Got my hair done - one of my favorite things to do. I have been going to the same hair lady for eight years now. Can't believe that much time has gone by. She has seen me through lots of stuff - including cutting my hair super super short a few years back. And now it is longer and I like it how it is...and I like having it colored and texturized. Just all around goodness.
It was reported by Simon's teacher that he had his first conversation with another little boy today. She said she could not tell exactly what they were saying but that they were actually chatting with one another. This is awesome. She said he also said to her plain as day, "I need a high five." LOL - you go dude.
I am feeling so burned out on cooking around here - all cooking creativity seems to have vanished. I need some inspiration - anyone good any good stuff without dairy? I need to make it fun again - having time to do it helps too LOL.
And, last night during American Idol (which overall did not rate up there with other episodes) Simon went upstairs and came back down with his guitar. My Dad got it for him last year and he loves to strum - it was cool to see how he decided he wanted to have it with him while we watched the "singing show."

I have an awesome tortilla soup recipe that is easy and tasty. Just e-mail me if you want the recipe. It is kind of long, so I don't want to type it out unless you really want it!

Yep, nothing like fresh highlights! They look fabulous Ali.
Cooking...well I have a 3 step rule when it comes to cooking. If it is over 3 steps, then forget it! :-) (not much help I know)
Hooray for Simon!

Ali,
You look truly beautiful. I have always admired that you could look great regardless of whether your hair is short or long.
I am going long lately. It's nice to be able to have the length to do fun things with it.
Love the shirt! It's looks perfect with that cardigan.
Take care Ali :)

You look ga-reat A. Love how you graphic designers morph all the time. Hello - talkto Amy G about food and recipes, she's always my source:)
I remember the day - PERFECTLY - when Ellie starting putting a little voice to her Little Ponies. She probably played with them silently for 8 months - it is so strange to watch a child "think" talk - because they would clearly be talking to each other but with no sound. It was a good day - i hope the same feeling is running through your bod today, it's a good one:)

Ali, you said you needed cooking inspiration....How about Taco Soup? I remembered the recipe you shared with me last year and was able to find it stored on a disk of old computer info. It's such a great recipe and can be eaten for days!! No dairy and Simon would probably like it with corn chips. Or maybe not, since he doesn't like "that food to touch that food!" You and Chris could still enjoy and I'm sure it would lend itself well to crock pot cooking.
Love, Mom

Ok....so this sounds really, really wierd, but my kids love it and it is EASY. When you look at the long list of ingredients (all of 3!) don't saw "eeeew!" - but instead, think of turkey dinner leftovers!
1. 1 Frozen, boneless turkey breast roast
2. 1 can cranberry sauce (not the jello-ey stuff, but the chunky kind with the actual berries in it)
3. 1 packet of onion soup mix.
Mix cranberry & onion soup in bottom of large crock pot. Put in solid frozen turkey roast (remove netting & giblets if included). Cover and cook on high 2-4 hours. When turkey is cooked, shred the meat (forks, fingers, whatever!) and put it back in pot & mix with the juices and sauce. Put lid back on and cook on low for another 2-4 hours, for a total of about 6 hours.
Serve on really yummy ciabatta rolls (toasted) or other good, crusty bakery rolls! Enjoy!

You are so beautiful Ali! I just love that picture of you, well every picture is gorgeous- but your expression on your face- it's one of such happiness! I am so happy Simon is doing well. That is such a blessing!
Cooking creativity:
My favorite Salmon:
-Salmon with lemons squeezed over and place right in the baking dish, sprinkles of sea salt, and then add some fun spices
-Bake 350 until done
-Serve over brown rice
-Can you say yummy and good for you???
xoxo
