Voice of Art.
Tags:I got my May CK today. Sometimes I come across a layout I did , read the journaling, and am surpsied by my voice at that moment in time. That it would all come together in the way that it did - capturing feelings I was having and making a connection with the life that was happening at that moment.
This was one of those pages for me tonight.
Not sure if you can read the jouranling in the scan. This is what it says:
art is a voice. it is a method of communication. a way to translate an experience. tell a story. live a life. for you, art is definitely a voice: loud and clear. sometimes more loud than clear. an expression. a manefestation of emotion. of things unsaid. a way of being. as it is for me. as you grow you will learn that everyone has their own way of communicating with their fellow beings. some quiet. some loud. all worth listening to...if for nothing other than the chance to learn. art is a teacher. and a messenger. and a voice. create your own voice. your own method. develop your own strength. be passionate. art will always be on your side. will always challenge you to communicate. to tell your story in your own truth. in your own voice.

Ali...I think you just answered my question that I e-mailed you the other day : ) (Not the J Crew one, ha ha...the other one). I now see you as a teacher and challenging [us] in more ways than one.

I took my CK with me on the road this week and this layout captivated me. I probably stared at it for three minutes, mesmerized, before I read that it was an "Ali layout". This seemed a bit different than a lot of your stuff (gosh, I sound like a total stalker!) but it was, like everything else, so damn cool and inspiring. So, like, thanks!

Going to say that this page ranks right up there as one of my favorites of yours. Both for the message, and the meaning behind it. As a lover of all things "art" and growing up around a father who made painting both his passion and his livelihood, it has always been such a core part of my life.
Nice to see you reflect on that.

Your voice always speaks to me. Today, everyday. You know, I'm still trying to find my artist to view what I do as art. Not quite there, have a hard time with it. Definitely coming around though. :)
